Confused about paying for room ressie ??

Ok, here are my questions:

1. Can I pay my room deposit with a credit card (Visa)?
2. Can I continue to pay on my room periodically with my CC?
3. Do I have to use that authorization thing (??) to use my CC?
4. If so, how does that work?

They recently changed the rules with CC's. I think that you can now pay with a Visa or MC your first nights deposit without a faxed authorization. I would assume that you can then do the same for the rest of your nights if that is what you choose.
