Confused about park hopping and using fastpass plus, please help

Not sure if I'm understanding correctly. Is it right that you can't split your first three fastpasses between multiple parks? So, if you use your first three fastpasses in the first park are you then eligible to try for the fourth, fifth and so forth on fastpasses in the second park? Or are you just not able to get any fastpasses in the second park if you used all your three fastpasses in the first park?

Or you can rope drop the first park and save FP's for the second park. You just can't have 3 preselected FP's between two parks

You can book 1or 2 in Park#1 and then book for Park#2 as soon as you enter the line for FP#1:

You're also free to use the prebooked FPs in the second park rather than the first.

Yep.
Two months ago we were at Disney and did 3 parks in one day.
At the 60 day mark, we made our fast passes for Hollywood Studios between the hours of noon-3pm.

We started in MK with NO fast passes, then left to go to Hollywood Studios
Did our Fast pass rides in HS (and a few other things just standby)
After we did our last Fast Pass in Hollywood Studios, I was able to get us a fastpass for Soarin in Epcot at 7pm.
So after we left HS, we went to Epcot and did Soarin and a few other rides (standby)
