I have started planning our trip for this May:banana: and was looking at places to eat when I realized that my oldest ds will be too old to eat off of the kids menu. He is turning 10 in a few weeks. My problem is that he doesn't like "adult" food. He is strictly a cheesburger, chicken nugget, pizza kid! :sad2: I don't know what to do about dinners. My dh enjoys sitting down to a dinner (TS)every night so I know we will be doing that. It seems like a large waste of money to order ds something off the adult menu that he will never eat! Has anyone else run into this problem and how did you handle it? I suppose I could always feed him cs meals on the nights when I know he won't like the adult menu but that seems like kind of a pain. I wish Disney would up the age for the kids to 12.

I had thought about doing the ddp but I really think that would be a waste for him. What do you think?

Depending on where you go, you should be able to find things that he will eat. You might also consider paying OOP at some places and let him order off of the kid's menu. He'll be fine at buffets, where they make sure to have some typical "kid food", but I'm sure that you don't want to eat all buffets!

No worries, he can totally order off the kids menu. The only place it is an issue is the buffets/prepaid meals. My nephew who is 15 gets pizza or nuggets everywhere and my mom who is 72 orders off the kids menu at CS all the time....of course she does get a cup of tea with her uncrustable meal :lmao:

At buffets or character meals, you will be charged the adult price for a 10 year old whether you are on the DP or not (my daughter is 10 and eats like a 5 year old so we tend to avoid buffets).

At other TS restaurant or at any CS anyone can order off the child's menu and pay the child menu price if you are not on the dining plan.

If you do the dining plan, Disney will charge you the adult price for your 10 year old. Your child can still order of the child's menu, but their adult credit will be applied (or you can pay out of pocket). So you'd have to decide if it save you money with the DP to pay for adult meals when they may eat off the child's menu.

Oh outstanding!!! I had no idea he could still order off the kids menu at a TS restaurant!! Y'all just made my day! :cool1:

I think I would be better off just paying oop than being on the ddp with him being counted as an adult. Maybe not though. Guess I will just have to run some numbers.

They have so much for kids even though he's not consider a kid . He will be fine pretty much anywhere he goes.

Ds (10) can be like this too. He won't eat steak and when we have been out walking around all day he gets a little cranky. We went in May and were on the ddp and he ordered off the kids menu. He did this for a couple ts places (LeCellier 2x's, SanAngel, Coral Reef.) In Nov I have made extra adr's (like some for breakfast and dinner) so we will use the credits he won't use when we eat at some places. We just paid out of pocket for him on the days he didn't want an adult meal.
