I have read somewhere that it is possible to have more than one fast pass at a time? How is this possible? Everything I have read states that you get a fastpass and it will tell you what time to return and then when you are done with that ride you may then go obtain another fastpass. Am I missing something? Thanks!

I'm not sure what it is based on . . . crowd levels maybe . . . but on our last trip we received several fast passes showing the return time and the time you could obtain the next fast pass on the bottom was before the first one expired.

For example FP return time says return between 11:30 and 12:30 but the time on the bottom that you could obtain the next FP was 12:00 therefore you have two FP you are holding at the same time. The week we went was not super busy though so that may have something to do with it.

I don't think it always works this way though and what you have read is correct. A lot of times the time stamped to get the next FP is after the return time on the first one.

The fastpass will also tell you when you may obtain another fastpass. In some cases the return time is so many hours later in the day that you would only be able to get one or two a day! Basically, after 1-2 hours you can get another one even if you haven't used the first. But pay attention to what it says on the ticket. I tried to get one a couple minutes too early, and the machine made me wait another 5 minutes before I tried again!

Depending on crowds, alignment of the plants :teeth: , and other things, the time you can get another fast pass changes. But typically it is 2 hours.

If WDW didn't do this, you would be completely bummed out if you got a fast pass at 10AM for Fast Track at Epcot to return at 7PM and you couldn't get another fast pass until then.

I was at WDW in winter a few years ago and there was a hard freeze in Orlando one night. The next morning I saw the groundskeepers digging up and replacing flowers that had wilted from frost.

This is an anomaly*. For return between 11:30 and 12:30 the time for next FP would normally be 11:35, namely slightly after the come back window begins.

Simply by getting the next FP before going on the ride for the FP you already have, you will hold more than one FP.

* If the park is not too busy, you may occasionally succeed in getting another FP before the time at the bottom of the FP you have. But, when the system is working properly, the time at the bottom of the second FP will not be earlier than the time at the bottom of the first FP, so the above scenario can happen if the second FP has an earlier come back window than the first.
