Confused About DDE with AP and no DVC??

Can you still get the DDE with just an AP?? We are not DVC members. I tryed searching but could really find any recent info. We are going to WDW Dec 1-10, 2006. And we are considering a AP for AP rates if tthere are any for our dates. But what would really swing the deal for an AP is is DDE card.

Can any one shed any light on this for me?? [Not sure where I was whan this was first released? But now I'm playing catch up.]

Are you talkiking about the DDE (Disney Dining Experience card) or are you talking about the Disney Dining Plan. The DDP is only available on Disney packages and to DVC members staying at a DVC property (or people renting pts from DVCers) You can get the DDE with just an AP. We have had our DDE card now for two years. It is really wonderful if you enjoy a lot of sit down meals (we usually do two sit downs and skip lunch). We have definately gotten our money's worth from the DDE card. I would not base purchasing an AP on just the room discounts. With Disney, you never know if there will even be AP discounts offered. I would base the purchase of an AP on how many days you are planning to be at WDW over the year. For us it makes sense because we usually do WDW 8 to 10 days at a clip and then we try to schedule it so that our next trip falls within our year.

You can definately get the Discounted DDE card with an AP....You don't have to be a DVC member.

So it isn't as good as the Disney dining plan But does give you 20% off your meals. Is it only good at sit down places or can you use it for counter service??

I wouldn't say it isn't as good as the DDP.....It really depends on how you use it. With DDP, we feel compelled to eat large TS meals. With DDE, things are much more relaxed & we don't feel the need to eat a ton of food to get our money's worth.

It's primarily good at TS restaurants, but there are some CS places there it can be used.....

The ones I remember are:

Flame Tree BBQ in AK
Pizzafari in AK
Tusker House in AK

Intermission Food Court

End Zone Food Court

World Premiere Food Court

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

Everything Pop

Rose & Crown Pub

We like DDE because it can be used to discount alcohol (Yes, we're LOTW's)

How do you use both of them together, since the DDP meals are already paid for? Do you only use the DDP for one person and pay out of pocket for the other?
