confused about bounceback offers

Just curious, we are going in October with free dining. What exactly is a bounceback offer? I read that you could book for next years' fd, but what if there is none offered? What is the advantage of a bounceback-is there an incentive or special discount?

bounceback offers are meant to tempt you to come back next year...and are usually good discounts, one way or another. Either for Free Dining next year, or a good percentage-off discount on rooms. There is usually a card/brochure somewhere in your room (often on the table, or propped up by the coffee pot) If there is no card to be found in your room, call the desk in your hotel & ask for housekeeping to drop one off. You do have to book the bounceback offer before you check out, though.

Typically, the advantage on bounceback is you have your choice of hotels/rooms (no "that resort is not available") and you have locked in a discount that may or may not be offered later to the general public.
