I will be going on my first trip since I was 6 to Disneyworld in Jan. From what I have read I understand it's a good idea to make priority seating reservations for restaurants before you leave for your trip. I keep seeing all these different abbreviations. Are ADR,AR, and PS different things or the same thing? Also, I saw a table that said you had to make your PS reservations on a specific day like 90 days prior for example. Is this right, and if so do you have to make the reservation exactly 90 days before and if it gets to 89 days you can no longer make them. Everything else I've understood but this is really confusing to me. If someone could give me a basic rundown on all this and explain it I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

As far as I know, ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) and AR (Advanced Reservations?) are the new name for PS (Priority Seating).

The 90 thing is the earliest you can book... you can go all the way down to same day ADR if you want... but it is a whole lot less likely you'll get what you want.

Of course, to make it even more confusing, if you are staying onsite, you can call 90 days from checkin and make all of your ADR for your trip (as long as it doesn't last more than 10 days). Not all tables are released into the system for the 90+10 set up... sometimes, luck is not with you and you have to wait until the 90 mark for "more tables to be released". That's what I've run into for LTT (Liberty Tree Tavern) for Thanksgiving Day.

Is it really necessary to make the reservations before you leave for your trip if you're not going during an especially busy time? Could you make them just a few days before hand and be ok or should I make them before I leave? Also, do you know if in any of the tour books they explain more about this and give information on how to make the reservations?

It depends on where you want to eat. We have traveled to WDW during the winter value season the past three years and even though it is not crowded some of our fav places we would have been out of luck on if we did not make ADRs. LeCellier and Alfredo's are the two that come to mind.

All of the guide books do a good job of explaining all things Disney. Checkout www.passporter.com. It is not only a great web site but a great book/keepsake. I have been to WDW many times, see signature below, and I do not leave home without my PassPorter.

Ok thanks. I have looked at the Passporter and it seemed good but I have to wait till Nov to get the 2006 edition since that's when I will be going. Thanks again!
