I'll be watching this too. Going down 5/29th.
I did just hear on the news that there may be 2 confirmed deaths in CA from swine flu.

I'm so sorry to hear this!! What a horrible and completely preventable tragedy!![]()
NO, they are NOT confirmed. I'm watching CNN right now and they are saying that they are just TESTING 2 men that died, it is not confirmed and the testing is pre-cautionary. They said it many many times that is not confirmed.

The swine flu is just another strain of flu that travels fast... as long as you're healthy, you'll be fine. There's no reason to panic!
According to my great-aunt who works with the CDC.
And hey, while in Disney I'd rather have swine flu than norovirus!!!![]()
Two Possible Swine Flu Deaths Probed in Los Angeles County
April 28, 2009
LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles County Coroner's officials say they are investigating two deaths that may have been related to the swine flu outbreak.
Bellflower Medical Center reported the death of a 33-year-old Long Beach man Monday afternoon from symptoms resembling swine flu, according to Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey.
The second case involves a 45-year-old man from La Mirada, whose death was reported Monday to the coroner's office. The man died April 22 at Coast Plaza Doctor's Hospital in Norwalk.
The coroner's office planned to collect specimens from the deceased and send them to the county public health department. The health department would then determine whether the men died from the swine flu, Harvey said.
If confirmed, this would mark the first swine flu-related deaths reported in the U.S.
So far, 13 cases of swine flu have been reported in California.
Especially since it was his 7th offense, he didn't even have a license or insurance but that didn't stop him from getting on the freeway going the wrong way.
OK, poor guy is taking quite a beating....
Will know in about 48 hrs - right now it's all seasonal flu. Doesn't know how many cases have been sent to CDC for testing from other hospitals.
Let's face it - an airport like MCO, with people flying in/out from all over the world. It's gonna hit Orlando. Be careful, take precautions, and have fun on Space Mountain!!!!![]()
Add one more to that list. We just lost a beautiful girl (2 days before her 19th birthday) to a stupid drunk driver. Maybe the news should focus a little more on these people.
Why are Mexicans allowed to come into the states at all right now? There should be a ban until this swine flu thing calms down.
Hmmmm I have not read all the posts in this thread. I will say that when we went to WDW recently my 16 year old got a flu...she was ill the last three days we were there. It was not enough to keep her down...she took meds and still went to the parks. :
wow..not sure that is a fair statement...And I wonder how many other people she infected while she was there ?

We live in OK, a state sandwiched between two states that have confirmed cases (KS and TX) QUOTE]
Frankly, I'm not so sure we don't already have a big outbreak of this stuff in OK, and probably other states. Unless they specifically test for the swine flu strain, they have no way of knowing what strain of flu a person has. Plus, I heard the press conference online this morning and the doctor said that all they could tell from the test results at the hospital was the guy in Florida had Influenza A (which is common), but they had to send it to CDC before they would know if it is the swine strain of Influenza A. So short of all doctors actually sending everything to CDC, it doesn't look like they would know which flu someone has. I know at least 4 families in the OKC area who have been hit by the flu in the past week and a half, none of whom have contact with each other. One of my friends that has the flu right now said her doctor told her yesterday that they thought flu season was just about over and now the doctor's office is extremely busy and overloaded with patients that are suffering from the flu. So something is definitely going around OKC. Swine flu has the same symptoms as any other flu, and I know my friend wasn't tested, so without specific testing who knows. A lot of people who have the flu don't even go to a doctor. Any kind of flu is bad, so aside from the fact that it will spread faster and to more people, I don't know that getting the swine flu is any different than getting any other kind.
lvstich-- That is horrible and heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for your loss.![]()
