If my standard view waitlist comes through and replaces my lake view reservation, with the exact same dates, will my confirmation number stay the same?

I got my wait-list and it changed the confirmation number. In the past if you modify a resort yourself the confirmation number stays the same, but apparently wait-list fulfillment changes the number.

The confirmation number should remain the same unless MS cancels then rebooks your reservation to match the waitlist rather than modifying. Be cautious with this if using borrowed 2021 points. This action “wipes out” the grandfathered points rule on points borrowed prior to the 50% policy being implemented.

It only wipes it out if the points are put back before used in a new reservation.

I got email confirmation of this for my July stay...if they had gone back to 2020 UY, then I would have been stuck,

But, they went through my account and said that since they were borrowed in March I was free to use them to cancel and rebook.

MS canceled my original reservation then rebooked a waitlist match for us. This may have been due to the system breaking down. Points for original were borrowed from 2021 in Nov 2019 for a June 2020 reservation. I Should be grandfathered and I could modify, cancel and rebook as I wanted right? Well, not so per MS. When I called in for another reason, I was told the New reservation would be canceled because it used more than 50% of our contract and nothing could be done. Super shocked I asked to reach out to someone else. A very kind supervisor sorted it all out and found exactly when the cancellation happened and that it was nothing I did. So, moral of the story for me is stressing to MS “please modify only, no canceling”.

Yeah, I am not sure but in my case, I have done a ton of changes online to my reservation and sent an email when I was worried, It included both modify and cancel rebook to get my 4 nights all at VGF

They are not going to put borrowed points back if someone had them before and are using them immediately for something new,

IMO, I think the initial CM messed up. That is why they said, once put back, then the new rules apply, so if you are doing it online, don’t let them sit there.

But, I was told I was good to do whatever I wanted with them as long as they were still in my 2019 UY.
