Confessions of a Disboard Dropout...New chapter 3/14

I can't speak for Nebo.... I can't quite get that Chicago drawl...

DRAWL???? Chicago DRAWL????? ahem.. drawl is southern, as in Blake and deedede (aka buzz) or LexMelinda (a KY alumni from nebo's older TRs.)
we speak normally. the rest of you have accents.

It was a hot day and Sheena, who took these pictures, believes that every moment should be savored and preserved.

Yes, she will make you savor if it kills you!

Well... If you insist.
Who am I to say no to a pretty lady? :confused3

Ponzi, you charmer.

Also, I'd say you didn't just try to "come up with witty replies" but succeeded admirably.

And no. You're no Ponzi or Nebo.
Thank goodness, 'cause there's already too many of us!
I can't speak for Nebo.... I can't quite get that Chicago drawl... but I would honestly say that you're a far better writer than I am.
And no, I'm not just saying that.

Nope, still disagree. You’re much more clever. At least I have you chiming in here to bring in more readers.

Don't apologize.
Life gets in the way.

I know.

But so glad you're back and writing again. :)

Thanks! And thanks for being so understanding!

Be honest.
How blown away were you with all the people that came running back to you?

Yes! It’s more than I deserve.

 Heck, that'd work on me!

Maybe if I said Zebra Domes…

Really?
If that's "one of your worst hair days"... lady, you got no worries.

There he goes with the charm again!

Merida reminds me of Alyson Hannigan.

She has the most beautiful hair and her mother knows endless braided hairstyles to put it in. Poor Monkston just gets ponytail.

I do try hard to not put my endless hair fussing on her and rather than chase her around with a blowdryer, just try to make sure she washes it once in a while.

Oh, I dunno.
It's ridiculous to plan rides a month in advance...
But it's more ridiculous to stand in line for 90 minutes for SM when you don't have to.

This is one of those times when you want to see them standing in an endless line as you breeze past them.
"Hi! I feel ridiculous going on this ride right away! Don't I look ridiculous?
No, don't answer now. We'll talk about it after I've been on SM, Splash, BTMRR and Peter Pan.
I'll come back and we can talk about it while I sip a drink. After all, you'll still be waiting in line. Bye!"

Exactly! I’d much rather have a few fast passes in my pocket.

I did pretty good in physics.
So....

Why didn't you get Mr. Squid to weigh himself with/without your bag?

That works too.

He was busy fortressing the house.

Hello, TGM here!

Hi TGM! Thanks for joining!

I'm subbing!!!

#!: I also have curly hair and it also hates Florida humidity (think Monica goes to Aruba on Friends)

#2: I am always at the 50lb limit on baggage.

#3: I love the pics of your family...adorable

#4: Can't wait to read more.

Oh I’ve definitely had my Monica in Aruba moments.

Last year’s trip, on our last day, we set out for AK on a very gray day. It was almost sure to rain, the only question was when. Well we discovered the answer when the skies opened up on us as we made the first climb on Primeval Whirl. We rode the entire ride amidst torrential rain and wind. That was fun.

Later, we went to MK. The air was heavy and wet. That’s almost worse than rain. I forgot any sort of hair gel. My hair looked like such a before picture for frizz-ease ad that Squid, who never notices such things, said, “So um…what’s with the hair?”

Hello everyone, this is Druid here, father of TGM and husband of Sheena. I am and have been good friends with Laura74 and Mr. Squid and Monkston for many years.

Yay! Druid’s here! He and Sheena are such good sports about their nicknames. I didn't learn until after I started the first report that they use these names when they are angry with each other.

I am a 7 year veteran of Disney trips with this crew. If I had my way, I would live on property. This is my first post to the Disboard so I hope that I don't disappoint, Laura74 is a tough act to follow. I would just like to join in and share some of my memories while they are still fresh.

Just don’t skip ahead of me.

Apple was smart enough to foresee the problem with a call like this, and made it so that only one person can really speak at a time, if you try to speak at the same time that someone else does only one voice can be heard. So as the conversation went on there was a lot of "sorry" "what did you say" "no, go ahead" until we learned how to speak with that many people in the room so to speak.

Ha! I forgot about that!

Laura74 is one of the smartest people that I have ever met, and you are likely to meet.

Aw… that’s sweet but you’re the smart one. We don’t call you Mr. Know-It-All (in a good way) for nothing!

When you have done Disney with Laura74 as many times as I have, you learn to listen. As we were trying to have this multistate decision making session, Sheena was in the background yelling about how we should be spontaneous and see what the day brings, and how could we be planning our day two months out? I was thinking of what the stand by lines are like at Soarin and Test Track. So plan we did, as best we could, but I think that the first call only got us to Wednesday.

And that is why we don’t let Sheena make the plans.

I can't speak for Nebo.... I can't quite get that Chicago drawl...

Maybe it’s a twang…

Wow. Take the weekend off, well I didn't really take it off. My work gives me the weekend off, but then I have a list of stuff to do at the house. Finish walkway that I've been working on for 3 years now. Cut/pull weeds. Get air conditioner going because it's going to be in the 90's here this week. Go out to the ballpark and watch game. Go to the theater and watch Maleficent. Busy weekend.

Anyways, just as said, if you post it they will come. Seems you have quite a few people back. Some new followers I see. Hey look, we even have Druid and Alan Ruck joining in on the fun. I need to catch up now.

Hi!!!

I haven't been on nearly as much either recently (school, new job)--I just didn't have time. :( but I've been back a bit more recently. It's so great to see you again! Can't wait to read along!!

Hey look.

Someone from my neck of the woods. Howdy Neighbor. :wave2:

I was born and raised in Santa Fe, and still work there; but I no longer live there.

Hi Laura! I remember enjoying your TR! Looking forward to reading again! :yay:

Reading it AGAIN?

I'm guessing you have a time machine in the basement and you went forward in time to read it since it hasn't all been written yet.

Can you go forward in time and get the winning lottery numbers for me? ;)

Yay! Laura's back! One more disciple reporting for duty and subbing in. A bit late to the party but was away for a few days over the w/e. Just up to the end of your second post, I'll catch up with the rest soon but lunch break is over and work beckons.

Welcome back to the nut house, and no hard feelings for leaving us hanging (just don't do it again, 'kay?)

Mare, you can share some of your hilarious stories here. That way you don’t have to go full on trip report. These threads turn into a free for all. Anything goes…

Just watch out for the one's they call Pkondz and T_Man. Well not so much T_Man as the other guy.

Ponzi! So glad to see you here! I missed you. Now I will wait patiently for your smart butt remarks.

I'm sure you won't have to wait too long.

I agree. That was the best way but I guess too many people had discovered that trick. Disney ruined it last year with that not honoring late return times thing.

Shame on Disney for enforcing their rules. Bad Disney. Bad Disney.

And this is why Lady H and I are letting you all go first. That way you can teach us all the tricks before we go.

Is "relax and go with the flow" a trick for handling the fastpass plus system? We used the Disney Experience app to help us determine wait times without walking all over the park. Sometimes we didn't even use all of our fastpasses. :scared1: Weird, huh?

Disney just released that they will be using the long-range capabilities of the Magic Band's RFID card. This means that when an attraction takes your picture, it is automatically linked to your Magic Band, if you have the Memory Maker.

What this actually means is that WDW will now be able to track your every move throughout the whole area. Next time you walk into Goofy's Candy Shop and sneak that piece of candy when you think no one is watching, they will automatically charge Druid's charge card 10 time the amount had you just paid for it in the first place. Memory Maker is just a cover up for the real thing.

Not weird. We are a relax and go with the flow type of people most of the time as well. The only thing I really plan is ADR's. I'll plan what park we do each day based on those ADR's. Other than that, it's do what ever when ever. Now to add rides into the mix. I'll need to prepare a new spreadsheet for that.

It will be interesting to see how we handle this new FP+. I've been taking lots of notes to see how I can fully optimize this change. Need to figure out how I can ride RnRC at least 3 times in one day. :scratchin

Single Rider line is the way to do it. Or, if you are lucky (like I was for a brief minute) you need to get a student of yours to do the college program and score you some extra fast passes.

Laura, I can't wait to read the rest of your report. It looks like we were there at mostly the same time.

Exactly! (Not that I would do anything like that)

A student you say. Hmmmm.

I don't have a student of my own, but I wonder if I can borrow one for the day. :scratchin

Hey Ponzi, you're the one person I kinda know that has a student that might meet these qualifications. Can I borrow yours for the day? Just make sure to enroll her in the Disney College Program first.

Exactly! (Not that I would do anything like that)

Of course you wouldn't.

Now me on the other hand. Well, lets say I would owe them for at least a pound of candy. And that was just the last trip.

In case you want to get around that though, here's how you do it.
"Oops. I forgot my magic band back at the room." They'll think you're lounging in the room and......

Oh hey Druid.:bitelip:

Good kid you have there.

TWANG???!!! ;):rotfl2:

I will say, nebo and I come from the "intelligent" area of chicago.. in that we don't say "de's, dem's and doe's ala the Dalys. and we do NOT say "youse" as in "youse guys" (and I gave up my machine gun years ago!)

thumper, I finally got nebo to start relaxing a bit and not have every minute planned out and they came up with Big Brother... aarggh!!

(and yes, I actually am concerned about how easily we let "them" keep track of us if it's for a "good" reason, ... automatic toll pay, fast passes at disney, you name it. mark my words. there will be a day when you might want to be "off the grid"...) sorry, too serious.. back to the fun!

How did you like Maleficent?

Thanks to you for rounding up the troops. Guess I have to post another chapter before too long.

Montague Ross! Glad to you see you!

And this is why Lady H and I are letting you all go first. That way you can teach us all the tricks before we go.

Oh, so we’re your guinea pigs?

Is "relax and go with the flow" a trick for handling the fastpass plus system? We used the Disney Experience app to help us determine wait times without walking all over the park. Sometimes we didn't even use all of our fastpasses. :scared1: Weird, huh?

We didn’t use ours everyday either. Sometimes the advanced reservations didn’t work out.

Disney just released that they will be using the long-range capabilities of the Magic Band's RFID card. This means that when an attraction takes your picture, it is automatically linked to your Magic Band, if you have the Memory Maker.

And this is why he is Tour Guide Mike. The kid has a wealth of Disney information.

It will be interesting to see how we handle this new FP+. I've been taking lots of notes to see how I can fully optimize this change. Need to figure out how I can ride RnRC at least 3 times in one day. :scratchin

You can go first thing in the morning or at night if you can’t get enough fast passes.

Laura, I can't wait to read the rest of your report. It looks like we were there at mostly the same time.

Welcome! Wasn’t that a great week to be there?

TWANG???!!! ;):rotfl2:

I will say, nebo and I come from the "intelligent" area of chicago

No doubt there!

Oooh, just reading Robopocalypse. You have no idea how scary this stuff seems right now. And I'm a computer guy...

Oooh, just reading Robopocalypse. You have no idea how scary this stuff seems right now. And I'm a computer guy...

ooh sounds like a book right up my alley! author?

(I would also suggest the Left Behind series. I know not everyone here is a Christian, but if the "new world order' does come will be pretty scary for any christian converts..)
on another note:
how funny that was have LONG since past the year 1984? (Orwell)

'scuse me.. going now to dig out my old peasant top and jean bell bottoms with the flowers I embroidered on them:hippie:
