The crowds always are really low that week with most of the schools at the southern states back, but this year seemed very less crowded that ususal. I thought with the free dining it would be busier than in past years, but the crowds did seem lighter.

I don't know if tht was a good thing or not after DD dragged me of Tower of Terror 5 times in a row

Yes we booked with the free dining. It was an incredible deal and I would definately use the MYW dining plan even if we paid for it!

The free dining promotion ended in August unfortunately. It was bookable through travel agencies, AAA and directly from Disney.

Yes I booked it directly on the Disney website and got in there under the wire in August

. I had managed to pull together this trip to Disney in two weeks, so off we went with my touring plans in hand. It was a Mom & Daughter trip with me and DD Hayley who is 12.


...I must admit I was a little wary about staying at Pop Century after reading many mixed reviews of the resort, but I must say we had nothing but a delightful stay there and I would no hesitations about staying there again. I loved the theming. I was born in the late 50’s (very late!) so if you do the math you can tell the period of the “classic years” took me through my childhood, teen and early adult years .It was very nostalgic and the music from the different eras was fun to hear.

I love POP, I just had my second stay there the day you left. You can be my "Mom" anytime and take me on a trip. Very little planning is needed.
But you are really only old enough to be my sister. She's a really late 50's person too. And I have another trip planned for it again in December

We were also there. What a great week. Is it always that empty or did you find this year any different? I was wondering if the hurricane had anything to do with low crowds. I was amazed at all the rides that were walk-ons.

I was also at the "world" the last week of August. I wanted to write a detailed trip report and I tried to remember exactly everything I did. I have been so busy since I returned that I'm wondering if I will ever get around to it.

The crowds were extremely light this year. I went two years ago (same week) and fast passed all the major rides. This year I kept stacking my fast passes, but I hardly needed them. I only used them for Soarin a few times and for Splash Mountain. I had a fantastic time! I felt so blessed and so spoiled to be having such a great time when so many people were suffering from Katrina. The weather was fine. It was only really hot at the beginning of the week. It was still humid in the middle of the week but partly cloudy, which helped. Labor Day weekend was perfect. Low 90's and no humidity.

The highlight of the trip was when we walked right into Fantasmic at 8:30 and got better seats than when we did the dining package two years ago. I could not have asked for a better trip. And the free dining was fantastic. It was a smart promo, since I would definately consider paying for it the take time I go.

I can't wait to plan my next trip. This was my third and I think I am more addicted now than ever. I am convinced that Disney is the best all around vacation that anyone can experience.
