Conference Oct 19 at the Swan and Dolphin Please Help

Does anyone know what conference is at the Swan and Dolphin on Oct 19.? I remember there used to be a site somewhere that listed the conventions in Orlando but I can not remember where it is. We want to stay at the Dolphin Oct 19-22. Oct 20 and 21 are available but the 19th is booked for a conference. If I knew whoch conference I could contact them. Usually they are willing to sell thier rooms to others to meet thier quota.

I think I was told it was the Gartner Symposium. I was also told by a very reliable source that the Swan/Dolphin was the headquarters for this and was completely booked and they were also booking members of that conference into other Disney resorts, like the YC/BC and Boardwalk because there weren't enough rooms at the Swan/Dolphin. I've been trying for the 16th thru the 19th for about 8 months now.

Yes, it is the Gartner conference. My husband has gone a few times in the past. The resorts are PACKED. I think he told me about 40,000 people attend this conference. We stayed at the CR on year during this and he drove our rental car to park at the S/D. They turned him away - no parking ANYWHERE. He had to return to the CR, park, and walk to MK and take a bus to the S/D. What a mess. It was fun 'cause we got to tag along, but it was crowded.

Good luck. I hope you can get the room you want, but you may just want to go at a different time.

Thanks for the information. We have reservations for the weekend before which is our daughter's fall break (Oct 12-16). We have to be in Tampa on Oct 22 and I thought it would be great if we could go to DW before Tampa and not fly to Florida two weeks in a row. We live in New Mexico. Maybe we will check out Universal instead.

CPM, I can't help you with "what is Gartner" because I usually "space out" when my DH starts talking about this stuff but we would usually stay until the Sat or Sun after the conference. It is a HUGE conference. Gartner holds symposiums around the world year round and this is an annual one at WDW. Many people bring their families and hit the parks after the conference during the days or stay the week. I have definitely found October is not what it used to be regarding the low crowds. It is a BIG conference month. Hope you don't find it too crowded.

I was told 2 days ago by a reservations specialist at the Swan that the people booking for the conference have to book 4 nights and pay for them all even if they don't stay. There is no availability from the 16 - 20th and I was also told by the Swan staff that the wait list is a mile long. They didn't give me much hope of getting the one night I need (16th).

If anyone figures out how to score a room...please post!!
