We are looking to go November/ December.
Staying on site for 1 week
Off for 1...
Where the heck would I start to look for info on a condo??

Anyone ever rented one before?????

I would start by going on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board here on the DIS and asking the question there. I found the people there to be very knowledgeable about the various offsite properties and which ones were closest to WDW and best to stay at.

We stayed at a condo at Windsor Palms resort about five years ago and loved it. The newer Windsor Hills resort gets rave reviews on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions board, and it looks beautiful. It's quite new, gated with full-time security, very easy, close drive to WDW and lots of recreational facilities. Emerald Island Resort is very nice too. We have stayed there twice but they only have townhomes and private villas - no condos.

We rented through the www.vrbo.com website directly with owners for all of our stays. Costs were lower than through company and it is a very easy process. Best of luck with your search and just let me know if I can provide any help.

We just came back from Bonnet Creek Resort, which is owned by Wyndham not Disney but is technically accessible only by Disney property. It's located right next to Carribean Beach resort, and we could see the fireworks at Epcot and Magic Kingdom every night from our balcony :thumbsup2

We had a 2-bedroom unit, and there was plenty to do there -- daily activities for the kids, 2 pools (one with slide, one with zero entry), lazy river, 3 hot tubs, playground, free mini-put, etc.

Here is an old thread with pics:

Oh, and we used this website to find our owner:

Hi. I posted to you on the Orlando accomodations board. I found our condo through homeaway.com. It's at Windsor Hills.

This is a map of condo/villa neighbourhoods near to Disney. http://www.thedibb.co.uk/villa-map I find knowing where the places are really helped! People we know here in town always stay at Regal Palms in Davenport and really like it (it has a lazy river) but it's not as close to Disney as some of the others. One fo my friends has DVC now but before that they stayed at Orange Lake Country Club and loved it. We're trying Windsor Hills because it's close, was reasonable, is rated #1 on tripadvisor, the DISers seem to love it (only read one negative review), and it has lots of ammenities.

There are lots of owners/management companies renting condos, but make sure you go with one you have heard only good things about! Friends of mine recently came back after renting a house and were very disappointed in it. Unfortunately, they went through a travel agent and don't know who exactly was renting the home.
A co-worker always uses www.floridadeluxevillas.com so we are going with them. We chose Windsor Hills as well b/c I've read such great reviews of the neighborhood on the DISboards.

If you want close proximity to the parks off site windsor hills is about one of the closest. Having stayed there twice and had great experiences both times.

With the time of year you are planning to go it would be low season so pricing will be much lower except for the american thanksgiving weekend and xmas holiday week up to new years. :santa:
This site www.windsorhillsrent.com will put you in touch with owners directly so you cut out the middleman condo brokers and save a bit of cash any one we have delt with even with ones we have not rented from on this site all seemed very co-operative and are quick to answer questions it also allows you to view the condo you would be renting to get an idea if the decor is what you would feel comfortable with and rental range from 2 bdr condos to 5-6 bdr homes Its comunnity pool is excellent as well along with being a gated community so if safety is an issue it is one less thing to worry about

Have fun exploring all the options :surfweb:

I would use Skyauction. I have gotten around 5 great condo's in the past and all under $300/week.

I would like to know more about how sky auction works. Could you tell me how you got the condos for the week under 300.
Thanks
