The last time I went to walt Disney we stayed at West Gate Resorts. We were able to get the condo really cheap if we sat through a 90min sales pitch (I think I payed $700 for 8 days). I really enjoyed having the 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, kitchen, washer and dryer. I really dont want to settle for anything less than that. I want the place we stay to be very comfortable but not overally expensive. Is there any type of deals like that? Does anyone else have any advise where to stay? My children are young. My 2 year old and 7 month will be with me while my husband takes our 7 year old to most of the parks. We will do some parks with the 2 younger ones but I will not be taking them everyday all day long to all the parks. They will be just as happy at the pool and coming up for there naps when needed. So I guess what I am trying to say we will be using the place where we will stay alot. I also plan on cooking most of our breakfasts and dinners. Does a good deal exist for my needs? I have no idea on where to even start! Any help would be appreciated! Please add more advise if there is something I did not ask! I would love to stay 8 days. I have not decided on a date yet. Sometime next year. I read November is a good time to go. So mabie then. Not sure though still gotta look into it.

Thank You!!!!

I have not stayed here yet, but I have read a lot of good about cypress pointe in Lake buena vista. If you go to www.hotelkingdom.com the price for a two bedroom unit (with a full kitchen) has been showing up for under $100 per night. There is no timeshare presentation involved whatsoever to get this price.

I booked a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit at Bonnet Creek for $600 /7 days. (Bonnet Creek is REALLY close to disney) I found the owner on bidshares

He was listing a week in Oct but I emailed him and asked if he had any weeks in May. May is normally more expensive then Oct but I told him that I would pay now if he would give me the lower rate. I have checked with Bonnect Creek and the Reservation has been made in my name and I confirmed that I do not have to attend any presentation.

Worked out great for me !

Thank you! The place is gorgeous! Do you know if that is a standard price or is it a good deal like something I need to jump on?

I have been watching this resort on hotel kingdom for awhile and it looks like the nightly rate does not change during the year (the one bedrooms are always in the $70s, the 2 bedroom around $93/night and the three bedrooms around $135ish/night.

Perhaps someone who has booked and stayed at this resort through hotelkingdom could offer comment??

I am renting from an owner (its a timeshare), When I say May is more "expensive" then Oct, I really mean that the owners can usually get a higher rent in late May then they could in early Oct. This is simply a supply/demand thing.
May or Oct would "cost" the owner the same number of points. But the owner will have an easier time renting out during popular seasons thus they can ask higher rents.

I have rented timeshares a few times and I don't think I could go back to a hotel room until by kids are older. (DD6/DS4). My husband and I love to be able to put our kids to bed and still be able to have a full evening watching TV/ reading/chatting/ playing games and not having to sit in a dark room while the kids are sleeping in the next bed.

Believe it or not, $700 for 8 days is not a bargain!

The past 2 years, we've stayed at Orbit One in a wonderful 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit for $260/week. And no sales pitch required. Those stays were booked through Skyauction.com.

Another option is just renting directly, like at vrbo.com. You can get a 3-bedroom condo somewhere like Windsor Palms for under $100/nite.

There are lots of wonderful inexpensive choices. There is absolutely no reason to be stuck with a regular small hotel room.

Wow I always thought I got a bargain lol. But WOW $260 a week!!!!! Do you have any tips on using the skyauction site? THe only site I ever bid on was ebay. I am very interested in doing something like this. When I go to the site I feel lost :confused3 I dont know how to start. Thank you so much the info you have given. It sounds like I will save a ton of money!!!!!!

Do a search here and you'll find numerous threads about Skyauction.

Best tip. Go to the site and search for ready, set, go auctions. They are the cheapest. That's how we got Orbit One both times for $260. And in the off season, I've heard people getting their weeks for $215!

Just be sure you read the entire description page including the fees. The auction price might be $50, but then there are $210 in fees added on.

Thank you I am just amazed lol. I never knew anything like this existed. I am so glad I found this board. You guys are going to save me a ton! I love it!!!!!

hey - always glad to help.

I also love skyauction!!!

you can find a bargin. that say the best bargins are generally last minute within 2 weeks of your travel dates. lots of people have a problem waiting until then.

if you do make a reservation where you can cancel in the last 5 days.

or you can rent from an owner

www.vrbo.com - as Steve mentioned
www.myresortnetwork.com
www.tug2.net

www.redweek.com - you have to pay to join this

I've heard this, but never tried waiting that long. The rates I've paid were booked about 6 months in advance and I was thrilled with the price.

Steve - skyauction saves it top line - Hilton Grand Vacation Club - for last if it has any that is.

it also seems to save the Marriotts. - now sometimes you can find these earlier but not often

they don't say Marriott - Sabal Palms, Royal Palms, Cypress Harbour - when you look at the RCI information the website says www.vacationclub.com - these are Marriotts. sometimes these include the Imperial Palms - although it is not listed as a RCI resort.

Spicey, that's great info on Skyauction. For some trips, I would never be comfortable booking so close to travel time but for Orlando I would. There is such a surplus of condos, suites, etc. I know I could find something somewhere that would work for us. Even if Skyauction doesn't work out, I have found everyday pricing through ww.vrbo.com and also rates through Hotel Kingdom to be very good.

Interesting. Since we are very happy with Orbit One both in accomodations and especially in location, I don't need to wait to get the "better" places as those aren't the ones I want anyway.
