Condos in Reunion?

Hi

We are going to Disney in early September. Am looking at a week on a Disney property (Grand Floridian) and a week "somewhere a little bit quieter". Some condos at the Reunion Resort have caught my eye - looks peaceful and nice pools for Lucy (who wil be about 2 years old at the time) to play in. Anybody got any experience of staying in these condos.

Regards,
Alice

I think UKDeb has stayed here and should be along later :) Hopefully she will be able to answer your questions :)

As if by magic pixiedust: ;) .

I'm crazy about Reunion, Alice, athough I haven't stayed in one of the condos. It's an uber-exclusive resort and definitely qualifies for your "somewhere quieter" specification. Are you looking at renting through Reunion itself, or booking with an owner? I ask because it's considerably cheaper to rent from an owner. Google "Reunion Resort Condos" and you should find something - I know there are several listed on VRBO.

Reunion is a cashless, tipless resort which makes life very simple, and the employees are friendly, but discreet and very professional. The whole place operates like a hotel, so you use your room "key" to charge. There are differences depending on whether you book through Reunion, or directly with the owner, so I won't say any more about that for now.

The condos at Carriage Point have their own dedicated pool, although there is nothing to stop you using the others around the resort. There is also a fabulous water park, complete with lazy river.

I'll leave it there for now, but please do ask more questions. If you like the best (and, as you're staying at GF, I assume you do :teeth: ), you'll love Reunion.

Thanks that is very helpful and Reunion sounds perfect. :thumbsup2

It sounds like what we are looking for. My husband works very hard and we value our time together as a family (although I am very lucky and spend a lot of time at home with Lucy anyway).

A week of full-on Disney sounds great and Disney World would be our main park (think it will suit Lucy very well) - so Grand Floridian wil be a great and convenient base for us. But we want a week of peace and quiet afterwards -some pool time and just qaulity family time (husband doesn't want to return to work more tired than when we left for the holiday).

I think that a condo will be the best option to "wind down" for our first trip to Orlando with Lucy - no stairs within the unit and a smaller space to "control" her toddling around ;)

Will probably book through the resort - more expensive I know, but most of the private rentals don't seem to include maid service: don't want any housework distracting me from fun with Lucy and my husband.

...(husband doesn't want to return to work more tired than when we left for the holiday)...

Don't count on that lol, you won't be able to resist packing as much fun into your remaining days. Or maybe I'm just a giddy kipper. We planned at least 3 rest days into our last 10 day holiday and ended up taking none. I can't see it being better with the fortnight in May we've booked.

Oh I am not sure if being a "giddy kipper" would be good or bad... :rotfl:

Well I haven't actually booked anything yet, wonder if I can get husband to agree to take longer off work - maybe try for 3 weeks (of negotiate somewhere between 2 and 3 weeks)?
