Condominium Association Meetings?

Hi!

I just purchased this past March, so I'm new to this, but I'm wondering if anyone has attended any of the Condominium Association Meetings? I don't believe these are updates that go on all the time, I think they are perhaps at a higher level than that? VM just announced them for December of this year, and I believe when I purchased, my guide informed me of these meetings and said they happen yearly.

Has anyone attended these meetings? Could you tell me what types of topics are discussed? Are they productive?

The annual meetings are worth attending. Each DVC resort has it's own meeting. It consists of a very structured business meeting by the board of directors. No member input is allowed during this portion of the meeting.

The business meeting is followed by a report by the general manager of the resort, including plans for any major maintenance for the coming year. There is ample opportunity for member's questions during this portion of the meeting. After adjournment, there is also a chance for one-on-one discussion with individual members of the board.

Members are welcome to attend the meeting of non-home resorts. The meetings are NOT well attended, but are very informative.

I would anticipate some more mention of Saratoga Springs Resort at this year's meetings.

I encourage any member who has the opportunity to attend an annual condominium association meeting, to do so. It is a good way to see how your membership is run, how decisions are made & a chance to talk to various CMs involved with DVC.

Do you know if they are held in December EVERY year? Or do they switch the date from year to year?

October through December are my busiest months of the year at work and I would NEVER be able to fly down then (well at least not while I work for this company which I hope is for a long time)

But I'd love to attend one some year.

This year, we'll be at BWV when they have their meeting. Unfortunately, it's the only EE (EMH) day for MK during our trip. Decisions, decisions.

Annie, I think they are at the same time each year. I think last year BWV's was two weeks after Thanksgiving (Thanksgiving was early), so we missed it because we were there the week before (which was the week after Thanksgiving...got that?)

Does anyone know if I can get a copy of minutes of the meeting, afterwards? Or do they send out some kind of update?

DVC has never, to my knowledge, provided minutes of the meetings to members. The only "official" meeting is pretty strictly scripted and brief (10 minutes?). The minutes would not reflect any of the member question/answer session- only the results of the actual business meeting.

Usually, we've had a synopsis posted here from those in attendance. I expect to make the OKW meeting this year and will certainly post a report.

The annual condominium association meetings are held yearly. At an OKW annual meeting a few years ago we were told the meeting is held the Thursday after Thanksgiving. so depending on when Thansgiving is the meeting can be late November or early December. The other resort meetings are usually held around the same time - week or two difference. As a member I have never received any minutes after the meeting.
