Condition of Grills for campsite?

I have been to lots of parks that had a 'grill' for use, but have never really had one that was usable. You know what I am talking about - just a metal pole with a three sided metal box on top where there used to be a screen/grill, but now is nothing more than an pine-needle-holder......
Are the ones in FW in good, usable shape for cooking? Or should I be prepared and bring some type of portable grill??

I have always found the grills to be in excellent condition. As a matter of fact, one of the thngs the staff does when someone checks out is clean out the grill.

We had a grill that was falling off its post last July, we called up front and it was replaced by that evening with a new one. If it is broke they will fix it almost immediately.

I'm assuming these are charcoal grills, and that the trading post will be more than happy to sell me charcoal, should I forget to pick some up on the way

Yes they will be more than happy to take your $$$$$$ For some charcoal,Please dont forget as it get,s a little pricey in there store!

We once spent 3 nights at FW, and used the grill with no problems. I brought aluminum foil for the actual "grill" part, and made some pretty tasty hamburgers and hot dogs.

Never a problem with the grill at the sites we have stayed at. One thing for sure is that no matter what I cook on the grill, it always seems to TASTE BETTER than when cooked at home.

Most of the grills are in great shape but they are as you described a 3 sided box on a pole with an adjustable grate. They are OK for grilling but if you want to do any real bar b queing bring your own grill.
