It was about a year ago when we had out last trip to FW. Since then there have been several hurricanes in the area...

We are leaving in another 3 weeks for our next trip down from NJ to FW with our popup. What type of damage, if any, was done to the campground ? We usually stay in loop 1500, and we are wondering if alot of the trees, etc. are now gone.

Can anyone give me an idea as to what to expect??

You will see broken trees but since there were so many trees to start with FW still looks pretty good.

Unless a tornado came thru and sucked everything up there is just no way to take away the FW feeling. Have no fear, the magic is still here.

We were there at Christmas and could see evidence of the hurricane with more broken trees and such. Nothing really horrible and its still quite lush. The most damage I saw was to the big bus stop at the Outpost and another one near the cabins had roof damage and was boarded up. They had totally torn down the Outpost stop and made a temporary near the overflow parking area.

From what I've read, the new Outpost Bus Stop is finished, so that is no longer a problem. Don't know if the one other cabin bus stop has been redone.

I was in Loop 1500 in early December, and yes there was evidence of downed trees, and trees sawed off at the base with fresh sawdust. Those have most likely browned over by now and will look like it's been that way for years in short order.

Most folks seem to like the thinning out. Easier to back in big rigs, better satelite reception, better cell phone reception!!

Around Disney property the biggest evidence of still visible hurricane damage can be seen on the monorail between Epcot and TTC, and on the trail between Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

Also if you fly in, in December there were still lots and lots of Blue Tarps on roofs in the Orlando area (not WDW).

I would say that the damage to the wooded area between WL and FW was significant. A once densely wooded area and home to a lot of wildlife now a mess of twisted debris. What a shame. :sad2:

Thanks to everyone for the info on FW hurricane damage..Sounds like we will still feel the "magic" at FW. Can't wait to see it again. :earsboy:

And to John VN, you were practically a neighbor! We are from Hawthorne!

I just love these boards....
