Concierge Service

I'm interested in hearing opinions about concierge service at WDW resorts. My DH and I are planning a trip in Feb. 2004 (honeymooned at WL in 9/02). Is it really worth the money, and which resorts offer the best concierge service?

I wish I could help you, but I have never stayed using the Concierge services at WDW.

However, I do want to welcome you to the DIS. I am sure someone will be able to offer some opinions.

YES, YES, YES. It was worth every penny. Mom and I loved it. We only bought 1 meal a day. Breakfasted in the lounge, did a good size snack in the lounge and bought late lunch or dinner. Maybe did one snack in the parks. Aside from the food, the staff was wonderful. They made PS's for me before we arrived, they got me a PS at Chef de France the day before we wanted to have dinner there. Mousekeeping was great. When we checked in, I noticed no robes in the room. Shortly after that, a maid knocked on the door and said they hadn't put the robes in the room and handed me 2. I am a full figured girl and the robes were only medium. On my way to breakfast the next morning I mentioned the need for a larger robe to a mousekeeper, just wanting them to put an extra large in the room when they were making it up, she immediately went to the linen closet and handed me 2 extra larges.

Concierge will hopefully be the only way to go in the future. I know YC is the only hotel I will stay at.

I think it's worth the money also, IF you're going to be around the resort and take advantage of them. When we go, we use them - lite breakfasts, snacks, etc., usually because we're on longer trips and do have 'down' days where we hang out a lot. If you're one who does parks commando style, up early and back late, it might not be to your best advantage or worth the money.

As for favorites, mine are the Grand Floridian - love everything about it (and can't wait 'cause this time tomorrow night, I'll be back there! ) We've stayed at the Poly concierge - it just wasn't for me, though MANY people love it. I was underimpressed, to put it nicely <g> with the staff (with the exception of Juanita who was there at the time), though the food *was* pretty good, and plentiful. I liked the Boardwalk concierge, love the hotel, and was happy with the food and the staff. AKL concierge has excellent food, and Juanita is now there, and imho, she makes it great. Can't necessarily say that of *all* the concierge CM's, but overall, I like it a lot. Lastly the YC concierge - this is another one I like - great food, and great CM's as well. I've yet to try the CR concierge - I've stayed at the hotel many times but not concierge; and I haven't tried tried the BC or WL concierge either .. but hope to!

one more vote for YES! I love concierge, the YC concierge is my favorite. have stayed there 4 times, and each time it is just as magical as the last!
the cast members are great, and the lounge is so convenient for breakfast or a quick snack later on. it is also nice to just sit and relax

I really like the extra attention and the comfort of the lounge, I say give it a try... but beware... you may be hooked!!!

YES! I LOVE concierge. I really do. It makes such a difference to me for several reasons.
1. Help with planning my trip.
2. A nice place to gather, relax, enjoy a snack and get information.
3. Extra ammenities in the rooms or a great location in the hotel.

I have stayed at the AKL, Poly, and will be staying at the GF in two days. At the AKL there is the sunrise safari which was awesome. At the Poly there is the monorail, great snacks, 24 hour soda and water, and the GF ...I'll let you know!

The only time I don't think concierge is not appropriate is if you are planning on spending every waking minute in the parks. On those commando style trips it is really impossible to utilize the lounge (most close by 10 p.m.) for more than a quick breakfast and you are not really able time wise to enjoy the hotel. When we do those trips (with out of town relatives who want to see and do it all) we just book a regular room. Then you feel free to enjoy the 100's of restaurants on property and don't feel compelled to go back to the very expensive room to enjoy it! And you can rely on the disboard members to help you with all your planning!

That said, concierge is the best buy when you are going to take time to relax and enjoy the resort a bit. There is NOTHING nicer than being pampered a little bit and feeling spoiled for a few days. I have met some really great people in the various lounges, etc. And my kids really love it because they enjoy the treats.

We are going on our first trip to WDW without the kids next month and have booked 3 nights at the Yacht Club concierge. I was surprised last Sunday to have the phone right and the caller ID announcing it was from Disney's Yacht and Beach Club.

A wonderful person was on the phone asking if there was anything they could do to make our trip more enjoyable. I was kind of caught off guard so she gave me her phone number and Email and told me not to hesitate to write or call.

A couple of days later I sent an Email asking here to make some dinner reservations, including letting her pick some out and surprise us..... (I love surprises)...

The reservations were made the same day, even Fantasmic dinner package ones.....She even took care of our admission media.

WOW...we haven't even checked in and already I'm spoiled by concierge service!

I really believe that we will also book the YC concierge for our next trip. The money we would save on food alone would be worth it! I figure we would only have to buy one meal per day, with some snacks thrown in at times. I was thinking about the CR because my kids would love to see Cindy's Castle but they also love Epcot and that is my favorite! Can anyone recommend a good room number to request at the YC (concierge)? Also, what exactly can you see...fireworks, any of the world showcase, etc? Thanks for any imput!

We were in 5178. This is right over the front entrance and only about 1/4 of the way down the hall from the lounge and the elevators. The balcony is a true terrace that is shared by 4 rooms. I liked it because we could see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom from our window.

I have never tried concierge, but would like to someday.

My DH reasons that he still wants to eat at many different restaurants in WDW and it wouldn't be worth it for us ($ wise). We aren't big eaters, so we could probably make a meal out of most of the offerings. Even so, we spend a TON of money on food at WDW - breakfast $15- $50, lunch- usually $25, dinner-usually $70- $100.

I have seen concierge discounts for as little a $50 more than the standard room discount. That is a great deal and so far I've only talked of food. With all the other perks and the lounge, I don't think you could go wrong, unless (like already stated), you don't spend any time at the resort.
