Concierge rooms at Grand Floridian?

Since we're just back from a WONDERFUL 9 day Concierge stay at AKL (and have been incredibly spoiled), we are already planning our next trip. We would like to stay (concierge, of course) at the Grand Floridian.

My question is... What is the difference between the Main Building Concierge Room and a Lodge Concierge Room? I know the main building is more expensive, but does that mean that the rooms are in the same building as the main lobby (like AKL lobby?)
is or is it more expensive because it isn't in the main lobby building?

I hope that makes sense. I'm trying to figure out the layout of the resort to figure out which room would best suit our needs.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jackie,

I've stayed in both the lodge and main building concierge at the GF. The standard room layouts are basically the same. I believe that the main building has a few more deluxe and suite rooms. The major differences are the view and lounge. From the lodge, you can not get a castle view. The way the building is situated on the property, you can get on the marina side, which will give you a view of the monorail and fireworks at night, but not MK. I found the lounge at the lodge to be much more casual. It's located right on the main floor with very limited seating. The tables are situated in the back entranceway. The concierge staff also sits in the same area, so there was very little in the way of privacy. Food offerings were the same in both buildings, however if you're traveling with kids, keep in mind that they do not offer much in the way of "children themed" food. No PB&J or anything like that. Breakfast is always filling, but pretty much just snack food the rest of the day. Also, the lodge lounge stops serving at seven or eight o'clock and there is no alcohol available. The main building has a spacious lounge area on the 4th floor which overlooks the GF lobby and has wonderful views. In the evenings you can sit out there and listen to the piano or orchestra play. During dinner they offer a sampling of wines and there is a late night indulgence from 8-10pm which includes pastries, chocolate covered strawberries and cordials. The concierge staff is on the 3rd floor and there is also an outside patio. The monorail service is located right on the 2nd floor. We spent a lot of time at the resort, so staying in the main building was well worth it for us. We had a fantastic view of the castle from our room. Please let me know if you need any other specifics. I'm actually in the process of booking AKL concierge for our 20th anniversary (no kids this trip). We've been so spoiled by staying at the GF, but I know that DH would love the Sunrise Safari.

Thanks for your great descripitons, Tammy. We are certainly in the VERY early stages of planning, but I guess this part is also half the fun! If we do end up at the GF, it sounds like we will probably do the main building. We like the convience and the kids will definitely be with us.

You will LOVE AKL, we did. When DH & I were there in February (no kids), we just stopped in for a visit and it was settled. We knew where we were staying for our September trip. It was wonderful.

Stayed on 6th floor in rooms 6202 & 6203. DH's father is in a wheel chair, so he had the wc accessible room at 6203. It was nice because we were only 2 rooms away from the lounge.
