We are brand new DVC members, after thinking about it for about 7 years! How difficult is it to reserve hotels in the Concierge Collection? Specifically has anyone tried for the Dorchester or Royal Garden in London? How long in advance should we try to reserve. Thanks.

I tried the Woodstock Inn in Vermont. I had to give 3 sets of dates that would be acceptable. We got the reservations for our 3rd choice. Never tried the ones in England but I remember someone posting that they had been to one of them. Hope they see your post. I have friends that booked the Kapilua Bay in Maui and were successful.

Our experience is with The Plaza in NYC and Charleston Place. I just told them when we wanted to go and they called back in a few minutes to confirm that we had the ressies.

Plaza we made on only about 2 weeks' notice, Charleston Place was a couple of months.

Ed T went to Dorchester a while ago and was kind enough to e-mail me about it. You might want to try PMing him.

My only experience with the Concierge Collection so far is the Mauna Lani on the Big Island. I booked it about 8 months ahead of time, and we were going for Easter week. No problem. Enjoyed it immensely. :D

I booked the Sagamore last Thanksgiving on points. I only had to tell them when I wanted to go (only one choice) and they did the rest.

Hi!

We booked the Royal Gardens for a trip on March 13, 2002 for four days, using DVC points. We chose the Royal Garden because of the wonderful location overlooking Kensington Palace. The Dorchester cost as many point for three nights as the Royal Garden did for four nights and the Royal Garden included a wonderful free breakfast every day which we had delivered to the room two of the four mornings.

We did book the room five months ahead of time, but I do not think they were full. (9/11/01 was only 7 months before!)

Please PM me for any additional questions. Everything about our stay was wonderful and I love to talk about it!

BobH, how long in advance did you try to book for the inns in VT? How did you like it? DH and I would like to visit one of these.

Thanks for any info.

I haven't tried the CC yet. But my sister and BIL used it to go to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island this past August. I was surprised they got a 3 night weekend the second week of August about a month out. They really loved it and said it was a lot of points, but well worth it. They loved the dinners, breakfasts, and high teas that were included with the room.

I booked it in October hoping to go in March. We were successful getting reservations for the middle of April. The Inn was nice and so is the town of Woodstock. Take a look at this website and you should be able to figure out when prime time is based on the prices. The fall in New England is obviously in big demand when the leaves change. http://www.woodstockinn.com It cost us 26 points per night a few years ago. We had the points left and wre unsure what to do with them. Breakfast was included but we had to be sure to point this fact out to the staff.

Don't know why the website above won't connect - sorry - but if you search on Woodstock Inn it you will find it. Good luck.

Thank you BobH. It looks nice. We'd probably go in June; so I'm looking for activities suitable for then, and don't see many in the area besides shops and trails. But we're still looking and appreciate the help greatly. The website was a big help.
