This morning Screamscape has links to another forum with leaked pictures from the Disney Annual Report.

Highlights include:
-Concept art for "Toy Story Mania"
-A new land, "Carland," themed to Cars (for DCA?)
-A new "Pirate Land" (supposedly for Hong Kong)
-New nighttime water show

And most interesting of all,
-A "new" park (doesn't say where)

Worth checking out.

The concept art for Toy Story Mania looks too similar to Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters. I'm not too thrilled about the Carland idea (an entire land based off one movie?)...but if they could take that concept and apply it to the Indy Speedway, that would be awesome. I like all the other ideas they have there.

But basically, as long as they don't do yet another Nemo attraction, I'll be happy.

Toontown anyone? and that was based off of 10 minutes of one movie!!

Toontown at least makes sense because it's based off the Fab 5...the ones who "started it all." Having Disney without the Fab 5 would seem off. Cars, while a popular movie, isn't quite at the same status as Mickey Mouse & pals.

Yeah, that's not quite the same thing. The idea of Toontown may have been a concept from one movie (though I'm sure somebody thought of it before), but the things it encompasses can come from any "toon".

I just breezed through what's online, and my take is that at least some of that stuff is not for confirmed projects.

Certainly there's been no announcement for a new park (Shanghai?), and there's nothing about it in Iger's letter to the shareholders.

The pirate themed adventure could be the proposed TSI changes in DL.

Some of the stuff could also be for HKDL, or even TDL or DLP.

Just glancing at the illustrations, I'm assuming Midway Mania has now become Toy Story Mania?

Beyond that, "Car Land" seems likely the "Cars" themed attraction going in at the Paris Studios, and the Pirate-themed adventure probably the Tom Sawyer Island alteration in Disneyland California. The urban entertainment center is intriquing; perhaps (as AV noted recently) there is something behind some of the rumors of Disney-developments outside of CA or Florida. But is the unlabeled Monsters Inc. illustration supposed to represent the "Laugh floor", the DCA attraction, or something else?

Does TDL have space for another park perhaps?

Well the Cars attraction in Paris is just a spinny attraction like Lady Bugs in DCA or Tea Cubs in MKs

(an entire land based off one movie?)....

The entire kiddy section at DCA is based on a Bug's Life. My DDs have no clue about that movie, but Disney managed to make quite a few rides, and a 3-D show with it :confused3

The art work looks very exciting, I wish there were more info as to the details but I guess time will tell. =o)

No i am referring to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, DLR and Tokyo have/had (i haven't been to either so I don't know if they are still there) a land based off a ten minute portion of the movie where they go to Toontown. And that is not even released under the Disney name! :P

also let me clarify I am not supporting a carland... I was just mentioning they have already made "lands" after one movie.

Annual report, other clues say Toy Story is next big ride at Disney-MGM Studios

Toy Story Mania, Midway Mania, Toy Story's Midway Mania -- whatever the name of Disney-MGM Studios' next big ride, Walt Disney World may be having trouble containing details long enough to hold a big announcement scheduled for next week.

Even Disney World's parent company, the Walt Disney Co., may be leaking details. Wednesday night the corporation posted the glossy version of its annual report on the Internet, and it included an unidentified artist's rendering of a ride called "Toy Story Mania."

At Disney-MGM Studios, a new ride is under construction that unofficial Disney sources have described as having a similar name and look to the one in the picture. The sources told the Sentinel a ride called "Midway Mania" is going into the building that housed the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire -- Play It!" game. It is supposed to be similar in concept to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom and Men in Black at Universal Studios.

Those rides take people in tracked cars through a maze of indoor scenes with robotic characters and special effects, and let them interact with weapons and other features. For months, independent, Disney-oriented Internet blogs and message boards have weighed in, saying the ride would be based on the Toy Story movies.

The ride's actual name may be "Toy Story's Midway Mania," one Disney source told the Sentinel.

The annual report's "Toy Story Mania" picture shows cars with pairs of seats facing in opposite directions, moving through a Toy Story scene, while riders wearing what appear to be 3-D glasses drive and shoot.

But the Disney-MGM Studios ride under construction has been a secret venture that Disney officials have never publicly acknowledged, and on Thursday no one at Disney was willing to confirm or deny the picture's relevance.

They pointed to Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger's letter to shareholders in the annual report. He wrote, "What you are about to see is conceptual artwork of projects we are building, developing or still just dreaming about. Some will be open soon, some may never be built."

Other pictures in the report included renderings of a possible theme park and possible rides in other parks.

"And if any of the blue-sky concepts that are shown in the annual report do become reality," said California-based spokesman Donn Walker, "we will let you know at the appropriate time."

How do you know that these are additions to the parks? Specifically, how do we know that this Pirateland will go into HKDL? Just curious about that one and the others...the links that crazy4wdw shares doesn't specifically spell that out. Not trying to be difficult, I'm just not seeing the specific mention and would like to read it. Anyone have any insight to share that can clarify?

Blue sky? Sounds more like blowing smoke to get the shareholders juices going. Why would you show "glossys" of concepts that may never become reality on the internet??

...how do we know that this Pirateland will go into HKDL?
Disney is asking the Chinese government to fund the ride and area for Hong Kong Disneyland. The government isn’t exactly all the thrilled about pouring in more millions of dollars into a faltering park while Disney doesn’t put in a cent – so there’s been a lot of “discussion” back and forth that has bubbled up into the press.

Disney is counting heavily on ‘Pirates’ to rescue Hong Kong Disneyland. A big problem for the park is that Disney characters aren’t all that well known throughout the country (part of that whole Cold War & Cultural Revolution thing). Disney movies are even less well know.

Pirates of the Caribbean has been a hit. And since At World’s End is set in the South China Sea, Disney is expecting that movie to become a monster hit in China. So the plans for ‘PotC – The Ride’ keep growing to accomidate all the happy tourists willing to throw down open their wallets and fork over their hard earned yuon.

Each one of those renderings have a story behind it.

That’s the whole “fun” of the rumors game – putting together bits of information from various places, trying to figure out which ones are plausible, which ones are just wishful thinking. It’s also in Disney’s interests to keep it’s loyal customer (the ones likely to look at random renderings in annual reports) all hyped up on new stuff – even if there’s no chance any of it will be built. Rumors have become part of Disney’s marketing campaigns now.

AV, wasn't there some sort of problem with releasing PoTC 2 in China?

It certainly seems as though they are spinning their wheels over there

Another Voice -- do you have a source? Or, are you just estimating on HKDL? Would love to see that, if you do. Have some friends that are going that I'd love to send it to. Thanks!
