Computer wizards I need your help

Something has happened to my computer and I don't knkow if it now has a virus.

Everytime I turn on the computer a "Parasite alert" pops up. I found something in my programs and deleted it but it was here again this morning. Plus there are desk icons that continue to reappear after i delete them.

The pop up has an exclamation and has written "Virtual Bouncer has found files on your computer that are being used to track your behavior across multiple web sites...It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that these files be removed immediately..."

How can I get this to stop appearing on my computer? It hasfound a place on my tool bar and I can't get rid of it.

Please help me. It seems to be messing up my computer!!

Do you have an anti-virus program installed? If not, I suggest you get one immediately and scan your computer. I like Norton Anti-Virus, but McAfee is a good one, too. You also want to look at AdAware http://www.ada-ware.com/ and SpyBot http://www.safer-networking.org/. These will remove spyware from your computer.

Sounds more like extreme ad/spy ware more than a virus. If it were a virus, most of the times you wouldn't know it until your computer was gone.

You might look into getting spybot. Its free and will detect most spyware on your machine. You can download it here :

I just tried to download one of the programs and that parasite alert thing came back on. I don't think I can finish installing it. It own't let me. If I just shut down the computer will it finish installing?

Which version of windows do you use? sounds like you need to "roll back" it's easy on XP, but can also be done quickly on Windows 98B & Windows ME. let us know & we can help ya out!

I believe it's windows 98.
I have so many things on my desktop that I am constantly deleting. Now there are even more. Plus the top where the address bar is has a picture of mountains and the sky. I don't know if this is new on msn.

I had a couple of parasites on my computer. They're called parasites rather than viruses because they affect your computer but aren't passed on to others. AdAware didn't do anything to them, but SpyBot got rid of them. Still, I would run both programs (and they're both free programs and can be downloaded from the internet).
