Computer wireless users beware

People here on the DVC site have been talking about the ability to use computer wireless service in the lobby and maybe the rooms

BEWARE

I just heard on the Kim Komando (computer) show that hackers have firgured out a way to hack into the hotel sites.

Here are some tips she gives (may not be all, I got write as fast as she talks)

Change your password as soon as possible

Ask the hotel about their security

Install a firewall (the one that comes with windows xp isn't good enough)

disable file sharing

install and keep up to date a virus program

Thanks for the warning. We just got our laptop and are bringing it on this trip - but we are all set with firewalls and virus programs.

Figures. Why do these people have to do this stuff anyway? Can they just get a life?

We got the mydoomf (the hybrid of January's mydoom) in at work this week. 20 people in a building of 900 opened it. In less than an hour - it wiped out over 300,000 Excel, Word and Access files on the shared network drives. That was Tuesday at around 3pm.

When I left on Friday, they still hadn't restored everything.

These hackers and worm/virus writers cause so much grief.
