Computer Problem With Wingman - FIXED!

Maybe there are some computer experts out there that can give us some advice.....I told my son he could install Wingman on my computer (running Windows 98) so he could play a game with it. He plugged it in and installed the software but did not confirgure it. Now, my computer freezes up just after the desktop icons load up and we cannot even uninstall the software. My computer is under warranty but I had it configured locally and their idea of "warranty service" is just to reinstall everything if there is a problem - so I lose everything in my computer. I don't want to do that. Any advice would be appreciated ~ my son feels really bad about it and I don't think it is really that big of a deal! Thanks!!

Although he is not aware of it ~ WEBMASTER ALEX helped me fix my computer problem!! I saw a thread where he was explaining how to scan your computer for a virus and someone needed help getting their computer to finish the scan. WEBMASTER ALEX told us in his post to restart your computer to Safe Mode to scan completely and without interruption. I had a hard time getting my computer to do it because of the problem it was having but I finally got it to restart in Safe Mode and was able to safely delete the software and joy stick my son had tried to install in my computer. Then, I restarted it and it was back to normal. Now I am scanning and defragmenting to get any "residual confusion" out of there and it will be good as new. Now I need to backup everything in there....

THANK YOU SO MUCH, WEBMASTER ALEX! My son is breathing a sigh of relief 'cause he felt so bad about my computer not working right and my husband was concerned about taking the computer to the 'shop'. Everyone on this board is GREAT!!
