I am been trying all morning to do some work on the internet, but I am having a problem. I need to have two links to the internet open, so I can gather information from one area for the other. I can't open more than one internet explorer. My computer wasn't like this last night, and it is driving me nuts!!

Have I changed my format somehow? I have looked through internet options, but I can't tell what could have changed.

Thanks!

Sorry, honey. I don't know how to fix it. I'm not very computer savvy.

What happens when you're in IE and you hit ctrl-N? (a new window should open). Nothing?

It takes over the current window I have open. :badpc:

Have you tried eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut? :teeth:

Ok, ok, seriously... have you run anti-spyware/anti-virus programs? Doesn't sound like a setting.

I will try running the anti-spyware to see if that finds anything. Thanks!

Oh, and I wouldn't eat one of those vile things. What, are you trying to kill me? :rotfl:

What about the 'grouping of similar taskbar settings' choice on the Taskbar Settings Menu??

Ok, I just checked, that that is aready selected. I did a virus scan and an ad scan. It did find some things and removed them, but it hasn't made a difference. :confused3

Try this:

Open an IE window
Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced

uncheck the box before "reuse windows for launching shortcuts"

That should prevent the original window being reused, forcing another open.

Or you could download mozilla firefox; its a browser that uses "tabs" in one window, you can keep as many open as you like. The next version of IE will have that feature also.

I tried the "reuse windows for launching shortcuts", and that didn't make a difference.

I was shocked that I just ran Norton, and two Trojans were found. I just did a full system scan on Friday, and nothing was there. I removed them, restarted, but I'm still having the problems. :badpc:

I'll look into that mozilla firefox.

Thanks!

Krispy Kreme will fix all your troubles.

If you had a couple Trojans, I'd run spyware and virus scans several times and reboot after each one. Wait until it comes back clean at least twice in a row.

Har dee har har.
:rotfl:

Ok, I loaded the Mozilla Firefox, and so far it seems to be working. Something must have infiltrated my IE, and I just can't find it.

Thanks everyone! :flower:
