Computer/DSL help, please...

I am about to order DSL service and I found out I need an NIC (aka ethernet card), is one better than the other? I am planning to be near a Best Buy and Circuit City today and wanted to get the card while I'm there. I dont want too expensive and I don't want a cheap product. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do think they are all about the same, you do not need anything fancy, they are relatively inexpensive. You might even chesk with DSL provider, they may give you one with install. Enjoy the speed, make sure to wear your seatbelt when surfing.

I was also going to suggest finding out if the DSL provider will supply one. I have a cable modem now but had DSL originally, through the phone company, and they provided the network card for free. I had to replace the card about a year ago when the old one went out. I'm currently using an Intel card (can't remember exactly which one...sorry) and I think I only paid about $20 for it at Best Buy.

I looked to see if Verizon DSL included it with the install kit and they don't so I'm going to have to make a trip to Best Buy! Oh the horror of it all , having to shop!

Ethernet cards are pretty inexpensive.

I would recommend going with a brand-name, like 3Com or Linksys, rather than a more generic one. That way you'll be more likely to find drivers and support information in case you have any trouble with it.

And you should be able to get one for less than $25.

Thanks again everyone! I went to Best Buy and got a Linksys ethernet card and was told it's one of the best. Got it on sale for 14.99 and a $10 rebate so I got it for 4.99!!!! So if anyone else needs an ethernet go run to Best Buy!
