This summer our Disney trip is a bit more complicated that usual. I am taking the kids to Disney a few days before DH arrives and I wondering how to do the booking.

We will be staying in a studio (1 adult and 2 kids) getting park passes and the dining plan from Tuesday to Friday.

DH is coming on Friday night for 2 nights but we wont need any park passes or dp for any of us once he arrives as we plan on paying OOP for meals and just staying at the resort.

Should we book 2 separate reservations since each part of this trip have different requirements? Is this possible?

Thanks!

To stop the DDP you will need 2 separate reservations but you run the risk of having to change rooms.

If you want the dining plan you will have to change rooms and categories. If they realize that you have 2 reservations for the same category then they will combine the reservations and return your dining plan money and you would have to repurchase for the entire stay. So decide if you want the dining plan or a split stay as that is the only choices you have for what you want to do.

Thanks for the advice! I think we will try the split stay option and check out a couple of resorts.

If you put your DH as the lead in the 2nd reservation, I don't think they will combine the two if they are the same room and category.

But then you have a split stay and they won't let you stay in the same room anyway since if you link the reservations then it kicks out your dining plan.

Unless things have been fixed, lead names are often switched around due to a software problem.

Oh, Yeah. That happens to me all the time. I just made a reservation for my son and his friend a few months ago using my credit card and we got stuff from Disney in his friend's name (and he was second on the reservation).
