Wawa wasn’t originally a gas station… they were a dairy focused store back then. Even today some of the stores don’t have gas… specifically the one in DC.

Wow. It appears that about 270 of their 720 or so locations have no gas station. I have heard of Wawa but never seen one.

None of the downtown Philly, DC, or a few other urban locations have gasoline (or parking). There are still about 100+ “legacy stores” built prior to 1997 that don’t have gas, but most are slowly being replaced.

Even a handful of newer stores are built without gas for a variety of reasons.

There are now over 1200 locations. Since I retired a few years ago, Wawa expanded into Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and a few weeks ago the first Tennessee store opened.

Definitely Wawa. It's the only place I'd specifically go to when not traveling.

Sheetz and Wawa were part of the poll; I've never seen either without a gas station portion. I have no need for a stand alone convenience store, there are multiple actual grocery stores less than a half mile away from my house.

Most Wawas used to be stand alone operations in South Jersey & Southeastern Pennsylvania. There are still some around. Their hoagies used to be good, but now we would only get them if our other option is Subway. I did like their breakfast sandwiches but haven't had one since I retired 10 years ago.
Only go to one now if we are on the road need soda/water snack or gas.
Have better local options for hoagies & neither of us drink coffee.

I’m very familiar with the three stores he visited in Delaware.

He doesn’t have to worry about Wawa coming to New York City. They won’t. There were 4 stores on Staten Island in the late 1970s/early 80s but there were too many problems. Before my time, but I’ve heard.

Does anyone remember when Jeremy Renner did 7-11 commercials way before he was Hawkeye? My uncle used to go to convenience stores to pick up snacks sometimes but he used to enjoy getting Big Gulps and Slurpees from 7-11. My father used to also enjoy convenience stores too and when I was a baby my father would go to convenience stores to get my mom special surprises too like ice cream sandwiches and her favorite chips

First Wawa I ever went to was located somewhere down near Wildwood Crest in NJ and I don't think it had a gas station, I think we stopped in for some chips and sodas

My favorites are Wawa and Sheetz. I grew up with Wawa. And discovered Sheetz when my brother moved to an area where they had them. Unfortunately we do not have either of these near where I live now. Closest is 3+ hours away and I don't get to go to either of them unless traveling to see family. The closest we have in my area is a local/regional chain called Byrne Dairy.

I live in WI and KwikTrip (also owns KwikStar) is KING here. Honestly, they just do everything right! AND, they are also a great employer!

There used to be three Wawas in Wildwood Crest. One was technically in Diamond Beach Lower Township. None had gas, and all closed due to poor off-season sales.

I hear a larger non-gas store in Wildwood itself will close after a new one WITH gas is built on the site of a closed down Rite Aid pharmacy a few blocks away.
