Completely OT - AFL Grand Final Week Melbourne - PART 1 and 2!

This week is certainly lacking the build up. We are finding it really hard to get into the spirit and it is our teams. I am filling in the minutes until game time by reading the boards and distracting myself.

I do not think a replay of the final quarter of last weeks game is what anyone really wants to see right now....

A beautiful day in Melbourne. Sunny, 19 C - perfect for the start of the cricket season. The pitch looks magnificent; even if it seems more than a tad green than usual.

Oh Wait - it's Footy match in October, right? :teeth:

First (Fifth) quarter score

Collingwood 3 2 20
St Kilda 0 2 02

This quarter was almost a replay of last week's match, all Collingwood. The ball spent a lot of time in the Collingwood forward half. An amazing play by Collingwood to re-create the first 20 seconds of the match, with Cloke looking like booting the first goal of the match. But it turned over to St Kilda via a free kick whilst Channel 7 was replaying the passage. Still, Goldsack ended up with the first goal of the match in the first 2 - 3 minutes.
The only time that St Kilda looked threatening in this quarter was if Riewoldt was leading from the front. And he looked set to kick the first goal for St Kilda 5 m out from an open goal. He decided to play on rather than stopping, taking aim and kicking for the goal. What a wrong decision! He did not count on his opponent (Heath Shaw) running, running, running and touching the ball through as Riewoldt kicked, resulting in a rushed behind!
If Collingwood continue this for the rest of the match, we'll end up with more than a 10 goal margin!

St Kilda just look too slow; even slower than last week.

Second quarter score

Collingwood 6 5 41
St Kilda 1 8 14

Collingwood got the early jump again in this quarter. The game has settled into a pattern of Collingwood numbers everywhere. But the ball spent a lot more time in the St Kilda forward half; for very little result on the scoreboard. St Kilda fumbles and inaccuracy has cost them this quarter.
The last 8 minutes of this quarter was dominated by Collingwood. Accurate kicking by the Magpies this week is reflected by the biggest margin at any time in both finals.

Third quarter score

Collingwood 11 8 74
St Kilda 4 9 33

Three unanswered goals by Collingwood in the first 7 minutes of this quarter has shown that this match is NOT a replay of last week's. It took St Kilda to the 11 minute mark before kicking their first goal.
Collingwood swarms everywhere, with Didak, Dawes, Pendlebury and Cloke making their intentions known for Norm Smith medal candidates.

A goal by Gilbert in the last minute of this quarter has made the scoreline less of a debacle, but still disastrous, for St Kilda.

Final score

Collingwood 16 12 108
St Kilda 7 10 52

Eddie started crying 4 minutes into this quarter. For those across the Pacific, lock yourselves in your rooms. No one is safe tonight as the Collingwood fans celebrates.

Collingwood by LOTS!

Norm Smith medallist was Scott Pendlebury.

Crowd of 93 854 at the MCG.

PrincessinOz - you should get a job at Channel 7! Unfortunately, I only saw about 2 mins of the game - but that was all I needed to see!! :happytv:
I don't support either team (Carlton for me!), but from this part of the country it felt like a bit of an anti-climax. There were loads of supporters travelling to Melbourne yesterday, though.
Today we had all the Rugby League supporters travelling - will it ever end???
Just watching the end of that game now - again, not too bothered about who wins because it's not my team!! ;)
Then flicking over the the test match in India, followed tomorrow by whatever Comm Games sport is on (within reason, of course!!)
Now, back to our regular programming.... :happytv:

Welcome back to the Boards Heather. Hope you've been well! :wave2:

Hi again! I haven't really been away - I have been a bit of a lurker over the last few weeks! Work and life just getting in the way - you know how it is!!
I see you are not too far away from 'not' going to WDW - hope you have a great time! I will look out for your photos when you get back!
