awesome trip report! I really felt like I was there! I think you need to go on another cruise, just so you can tell us about it! :thumbsup2

GrumpyDude and fellow DISERS...

Just FYI....RE: the Super Suck O-Matic toilets.....

There is one of them in Room 1265 of New York New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

I was NOT expecting "that type" of toilet in a hotel room...but yep, there it was. Only thing different, there was a handle on the side, instead of a thing to push on the top.....

Mind you, we had been up approximately 24 hours, flown across the country(with pilots who evidentially needed to practice their landing skills), and DH's Starbucks had evidentially worn off. Guess I was getting a little loopy.....because....

I enter this lovely bathroom,........, flushed, and then I screamed to DH, who was lounging on the bed, "Honey, come quick", I scream. He comes running(thinking I'm in dire trouble, of course)....."Listen", I say, flushing said Suck O Matic...."It's just like the ones on the ship.....OMG....it's just like being back on the ship...we can pretend we're back on the Magic...."

We had been planning this trip to Vegas for about a year(his choice...not mine if you get my drift)..so he said nothing to me..gave me that "she's really lost the rest of her mind" look...just turned around and walked back into the bedroom....

And the Super Suck O Matic was never mentioned again.....

Just wanted everyone to be on the lookout.....there are more of them out there....... so beware.....it will bring you fond memories or dirty looks!!!!!!

Phyllis

Grumpydude-First off...very funny. I laughed out loud a couple times and even schleped the laptop from up in the bedroom down to where my husband was to read parts of it to him. But that's not why I'm posting.

I have several comments to make on your postings.

1) You were extremely brave to wear opposing colors to an Eagles game. I, too, live in the gloriousness that is So. Jersey and am proud of myself for wearing my Giants garb outside the stadium. My husband went to a game in his Ravens gear and kept it pretty much covered up. The fans can be vicious!

2) When you described your airplane clothes, I thought..."I bet they're the same shirts I bought for my kids. Then you showed the picture from the terminal. Yup...they are! I spared me and my husband, but my boy/girl twins will be wearing them at some point next year when we go on our cruise.

3) If that isn't scary enough, the pirate shirt you had on is the SAME pirate shirt hubby will be wearing next year. Sounds like your wife and I are spending an awful lot of time at the Cherry Hill Mall and on disneyshopping.com. We bought the matching pirate shirt for my son, but alas...the Captain Hook costume will probably be worn instead.

4) I was practically on the FLOOR laughing at the Kraken/NJDOT part. The Kraken because this past August, I took hubby on his first cruise. He kept saying the Kraken was going to get us. Obviously, it didn't. The NJDOT part?...well, living in the road under construction state as you do...I don't think I need to comment further on that.

5) Great pictures...thanks for sharing those too!

6) Last, but certainly not least...hope you and your wife (and DH too) are doing okay after the loss...I've been through that and know how devastating it can be....thoughts are with you.

What can I say...I am a stud. Every stadium I have ever gone to (and it has been many) for Steelers games, there are always so many Steelers fans that I never worry. I even went to Giants Stadium...must be 5 years now when the Giants played the Steelers. It was the greates stadium trip for me yet. A guy I worked with had season tickets that he gave me on the Giants side two rows up from the bench on the 40. You got to see so much sideline / bench action it was awesome. I spoke to Coach Cower during warmups. I was the only one in Steelers colors standing along the rail at the Giants bench. He actually came over to me and initiated the conversation. Plus...it was one of the last games I went to with my Dad and he passed away this past January just before the Superbowl.

I hope you have a good trip on your cruise next year...and thanks for your thinking of us. Life has a funny way of knocking you down sometimes and I guess the most important thing is that you get back up.

That's really awesome! We have season tix to the Giants and on the whole, it is a very respectful crowd. The 'rumor' around that is because Giants season ticket holders have had their seats since the dawn of time. I'm sure there are some who would disagree, but we have sat around opposing fans and there's never been an issue. I think no matter where you go, you should be able to root for whomever you please! My bravest experience was probably wearing a Yankee jersey to a Boston game. Had a Boston fan with me so we didn't get too mucy razzing.

Anywho...the best to you and your family.

First and foremost...prayers and well wishes to LOP and Grumpydude on your loss - our best.

Thanks to oybolshoi (Brenda - your lost sister) and cntkg1 (Nancy) for passing this link my way...they were right...what an OUTSTANDING trip report.

Grumpydude...thank you for taking the time and sharing your wonderful writing skills on this trip report. We enjoyed it sooooooo much. I printed this out and shared page for page with my bride. Nan and I were able to take a cyber return to the Magic and the Caribbean through your words. At times...we retuned to our 05 eastern experiences and laughed till tears were streaming down our faces through your fantastic writing skills - THANK YOU!!

WOW!!! Wearing enemy colors to an Eagles game...you are a stud. Those people will even boo and toss snowballs at Santa Clause - that's just wrong.

Thanks again.

You are too kind. In fact all of you that posted comments are too kind. I guess those of you that read and did not post are kind too...but I would not know that. I originally read Erica's (zweihund) Geek's on a Boat and I thought it was fantastic. Then I was half way through posting mine and I read Brenda's (my long lost sister oybolshoi) and I thought her's was brilliant. I read Brenda's two other post this past weekend and again, I thought they were fantastic. Brenda and Erica's were so good, I was not even going to post the rest of mine.

It has been loads of fun to do. A great way to revisit your vacation, especially since this past week has really really sucked. I wish I had found these boards sooner than August...so much fun and so much support.

I still encourage anyone reading this to post your own trip report. I am hooked now on reading about other's adventures...or is it others' adventures. I don't know, I wish I had paid more attention in 10th grade English class.

Here's wishing you all health, a little wealth and lots of fun vacation trips. By the way...be sure to catch my next story, just in time for the Holiday Season; GrumpyDude..Adventures in Grocery Shopping, Surrounded by Stupid People. Only $14.95 at a local book or liquor store near you.

GrumpyDude

GD - you are in turn, far too kind to me and my trippies, but I thank you anyway. :goodvibes

I'm glad you posted the rest of yours for all of us to read - it would have been a shame if you didn't.

I'll be sure to send you a link to mine when they are rolling out of production later this month...it will be the trippie to end all trippies (until our cruise next October!).

Be well!!

Brenda :goodvibes

I will look forward to that title! :rotfl:

I am so glad you finished yours. Everyone has their own unique style and that is why I continue to read trip reports. Plus, it's like a reminder of the vacation "feel". You know?

I actually bought myself a grammar book since I am trying to write more. I took a test once that declared I was fantastic with advanced reading and writing but terrible at the basics. :confused3 Go figure.

What we need to do is ALL cruise together in 2008 and collaborate! :woohoo:

That is why editors make the big money. Grammar has a way of quashing creative abilities.

As far as 2008. As soon as I sell the rights to 2006...I am there.

I'm thinking a collaborative effort on our parts (GD, Zweihund, and me) could result in much cruiseline hilarity! :teeth:

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!

I've had the week from hell and this was an awesome way to spend a Saturday evening . . . reading your trip report.

After two visits to the ER (one that was useless - sent me home with meds and no diagnosis and the other to tell me I had an extremely bad UTI), one trip to the doctor (to find out I have a baseball sized fibroid tumor and now have to have a hysterectomy) and a stomach virus (that was the start of this awful week), this trip report was the best entertainment and put the most smiles on my face than I've had in a while!!!!

I send you and LOP prayers for finding peace and healing in your difficult time.

Thank you sooo much for brightening my spirits!

Prayers back at ya. I am sitting here drinking the last of the last bottle of my cream rum (I have been back a month and I cannot believe this is all that is left)...so here is a toast to your health :drinking1

Hoping you feel better soon.

Thank you for what I consider one of the best TR I've ever read, and I've been reading for years! Did I miss whether you rebooked?

Thanks for reading, I am glad you enjoyed it. No we did not rebook...we were expecting at the time and we knew we would not be taking any big vacations for the next couple of years so we did not even consider it. But now...who knows.

Hey GD, I saw your link to your TR in one of your posts! This is a great report. I cannot believe that there was another family wearing the exact same matching shirts that your family did.

I also have a guess who CLG is.

We had Maria when we went on our 7 day western earlier this year. She was great wasn't she?

I haven't finished reading your report yet, I'm up to part 3 but I wanted to let you know that I'm enjoying this and that my family shares some of the same experiences that yours does.
