You Can't Throw Mickey Waffles in There!!- A January 2017 TR

*New Posts Every Monday and Friday!*

    ****
Guess who's back?! (HINT: It's not The Maelstrom, Celebrate the Magic, or Pineapple Vanilla Swirl Dole Whips).
    IT'S MEEEEEE!!!:jumping1:
YES PEOPLE, ALL YOUR WISHES HAVE BEEN GRANTED. Okay, maybe you're not that excited but I am! I just got back (literally. My plane landed like 4 hours ago) from 4 magical days at Walt Disney World! I took lots of pictures to share with all of you lovely people and hopefully share some insightful tips to make your next vacation even better. SO, without further ado- let's get this party started!
    INDTRODUCTION
    Hollye
    [IMG]

HI! I'm Hollye, I am a crazy Disney fan and this was my 6th visit to WDW. I love everything about the parks and the Disney company! In addition, I'm also a gigantic Star Wars nerd. This is my 4th TR here on the DIS, if you want to read any of those or the pre-trip report for this trip, just look in my signature! I'm also a new Youtuber/vlogger so you can bet your buttons I vlogged this trip! Keep an eye out for those links throughout the TR if your a Disney video kind of person. Just to tell you a little bit more about myself: I'm a college student and I'm getting my degree in Communications. I chose that degree so that I could use to to one day work for Disney in some way or another. I also plan on doing the Disney College Program sometime throughout my College career and I couldn't be more excited about that!
Now for the most important info: ::yes::
    Favorite Park: EPCOT
Favorite Character: Sleeping Beauty (or Bean Bunny... but you'll find out more about that later)
Favorite Disney Food: Dole Whip/ Mickey Waffles
    Favorite Attraction: People Mover

    Rachel
    [IMG]
And now it's time to introduce our other Princess! Rachel was my partner in crime for this trip. This girl is entirely to blame for my Disney obsession and I love her for it! This was her 7th visit to WDW. We were the perfect pair to do this trip because we love the same things about Disney- especially pin trading and meeting characters! She has a knack for getting free stuff and she was especially good at this on our trip because we were celebrating her birthday! Rachel is known as Chocolab23 here on the DIS but has yet to write any TR's, maybe all of you can convince her to write one soon! :scratchin
    Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom
    Favorite Character: Rapunzel
    Favorite Disney Food: Mickey Waffles
Favorite Attraction: Toy Story Mania(?) Rachel, you'll have to tell me if I guessed that one right

    ******
Now, just a few more details left to cover!
What: A very magical princess trip
Why: A much needed long weekend college get away and to celebrate Rachel's birthday!
    When: January 26-31, 2017
Where: Disney's All Star Sports Resort
    Dining Plan?:NOPE

Annnnnd finally: I love, love, LOVE getting to know all of you lovely people that are kind enough to follow along as I re-tell my Disney adventures! Leave me comments and keep the conversation going, it makes writing these reports that much more fun! :thumbsup2

    IT'S DISNEY DAY
It's finally time to start digging in and actually re-telling all of you guys what happened on my trip. I'm so excited! Let's start off with arriving at the airport on Thursday. After a day of classes and last-minute packing, Rachel and I were dropped off at the airport about 3 hours before our 8pm flight. We really didn't need to be there 3 hours early, we were just a little excited. We got through security with minimal difficulty, Rachel had brought a bunch of film packs for her Polaroid and those had to be hand checked because it would ruin the film if it went through the x-ray machine. She also had a "suspicious looking" bag of Swedish Fish gummies that had to be inspected.:rotfl:
But we finally got through an headed to our gate! On the way, there was this massive dry-erase wall and you were supposed to write where you were headed. Of course, we contributed to that.
Then we boarded our very first fake-o-rail of the trip! Wuhoo! :bounce:
We also found some moving sidewalks along the way- if you've read any of my previous TR's you'll know how excited I was about that! Then we just hung out at our gate and tried to contain our excitement! I tried some of Rachel's Swedish Fish and OH MY GOSH those things are so good!:lovestruc I have no idea where those have been my entire life! After about 2 hours, it was finally time to board our plane! Unfortunately we did some more waiting on the tarmac for our plane to get de-iced before we could finally take off!
Both of us had to wear our crowns because they didn't fit in our luggage... I'm sure you can guess that didn't bother us too much! We passed the time by listening to Moana and various other Disney tunes. :rolleyes1

We finallyyyyy landed in Orlando and found Terminal B in no time! We headed over to Magical express and I was victoriously running through the queue because there was nobody in front of us waiting for ME. The cast member called me Miss Universe and I was very excited about that! We walked out and got on a bus and sat on it for maybe 15-20 minutes before heading to WDW! It was so dark I didn't even bother taking pictures because I knew it would turn out blurry!

We had one of the BEST ME driver I have ever had. He had a pretty heavy accent and whenever he would come over the intercom he was so funny!
So, If you don't know- when you stay at any of the All Star Resorts, you share a Magical Express bus with people going to the Coronado Springs Resort as well. The CS always gets dropped off first. So when the bus pulled up the bus driver said "Cooooooooranodo SPRINGS!!" and Rachel and I thought it was sooo funny! Every time we passed the resort, we would say it like he did. And when we arrived to our resort he said "Alllllllll Star SPORTS". We will never say it any other way from now on. ::yes::
Through the Magic of Online Check-In once we got to ASSp, we just walked straight though the main building and headed back to our building which was the Surfs Up Building. I was so excited about it because we were so close to the main building! We got into our room, unpacked a little bit and then went straight to sleep!
I decided not to take any room pictures because I feel like I have taken so many before but I did take a picture of this framed picture because I thought it was so cute!

    There's No Sleeping In Disney!!
Ahh, it's always the BEST thing waking up early on your very first day of your trip! You're not exhausted or sore and you're so excited to get up for your trip! I rolled out of bed around 6:10AM and started getting ready. Rachel was up soon after and we left our room at 7:00. We passed a woman who was on our floor and she said "Wow, you ladies are up early" and we said "There's no sleeping in Disney!!" then she was like "You tell 'em! How about you also tell them there's no crying in Disney!". Haha, I hate to break it to her but I don't think you can ever prevent crying in Disney. :rotfl:

We hopped on our Bus and headed off to MK!
Our us was so full we had to stand up which is always so dangerous for me because I end up flailing everywhere and nearly falling over every time the bus driver slams on the breaks. Happens. We Arrived at MK at 7:30 and headed in through security.
That morning it was EMH and the park opened at 8 so we just stood and waited to be let into the park. It was quite chilly that morning so we were trying to stay warm! :scared:
I passed the time by eating a breakfast bar I had brought with me and taking pictures of all the sad construction happening at the Train Station. :(
    [IMG]
They finally dropped the rope and we swarmed into MK! But instead of heading straight into the attractions, we went on over to guest relations! Rachel has a rare autoimmune disorder called POTS and being on her feet for long periods of time can make her symptoms worse. It really, really helps that Disney offers a DAS where you can get go up to any attraction and they will give you a return time where you can come through the Fastpass line so she doesn't have to stand/walk as much. It was defo a major life saver for us! ANYWAY, to get approved for the DAS and get it put on your account, we had to go into Guest Services and they had to take Rachel's picture and scan out MagicBands. While we were there, we of course traded some pins and asked for some celebrating buttons!
We to get buttons because this was the name of our trip!
We headed out of Guest Services and back on to Main Street!
We bopped down Main Street and I HAD to get a picture with this door! Like I mentioned above, one day I want to work for Disney so I thought this picture was relevant.
Then it was FINALLY time for me to take pictures of something I hadn't seen for 15 long months....
    CASTLEEEEE
    [IMG]
I was excited to see that the turrets were complete because they were working on those when I was here last time. After drooling over the castle, we went through Tomorrowland and around to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We booked a DAS for it and went to our very first attraction of the trip: Princess Fairytale Hall!!

    Princesses, Princesses, and More Princesses!
We decided to go meet Rapunzel and the "Mystery Princess" first. The wait time was listed as 5 minutes but we just walked up to the rope where the CM was standing and then he just ushered us into the room with the princesses.
There weren't any other guests in the room with us so we had them all to ourselves! I went up to Rapunzel first and immediately she commented on how much she loved my skirt. OF COURSE we had to do a little twirl, why would you not?!:confused3
    [IMG]
Rachel was trying to get the film all squared away on her Polaroid and because there weren't any guests waiting in line behind us, I didn't feel rushed and was just chatting it up with Punzie. She told me Flynn was busy being captain on the guard and how her and Pascal have dance lessons every morning.
    Next up, was Rachel's turn!
Of course they had to do a twirl too- especially because Rachel's skirt matches Rapunzel's! Punzie also loved Rachel's crown, she said she didn't wear hers every day because it was just too heavy on her head! Pretty understandable. ::yes::
We had a pretty fantastic Character Attendant who got some interaction shots of us with the characters!

Next up was the mystery princess- today it was Tiana!
Looking back at these pictures I have to have a little chuckle because Tiana's dress is SO huge it's hard to give her a hug or stand near her for pictures.
Tiana was asking me how I knew Rachel and when I told her we were Best Friends, she said "Oh! Like me and my friend Lottie! ":goodvibes

I don't remember too much of Rachel and Tiana's conversation because I was too worried about trying to get their Polaroid. Come to find out, I was struggling because my finger was covering up the viewfinder. Honestly, I'm not even surprised I did that. :rotfl:
So we left both of those Princesses and decided to go back through the line to meet Elena and Cinderella since the park was still so empty! :cheer2:

We waited 5 minutes tops before actually meeting Elena. First off, Rachel got a video to send back to my sister!
I haven't had a chance to see Elena of Avalor yet, usually I will watch Disney Junior when I babysit my kids but it hasn't been on whenever we're watching it. It's a pretty rare thing when I meet a character without knowing anything about their backstory. I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to say to her but she was so gracious and sweet! She wanted to know if Rachel and I were princesses and said that both of us could come to her coronation and become queens too!
She was so pretty and just precious!
Then we headed over to Cinderella! With all of the other Princesses we would go up to them separately but Cinderella was awkwardly trying to talk to Rachel beside her and me standing by the Photopass Photographer so I just jumped in beside her. We didn't have too much conversation and just took pictures.

After waving goodbye to Cinderella, we headed out through the gift shop and back into Fantasyland. Believe it or not, we did 4 character meet and greets in 20 minutes or less!

We were actually just there almost those exact days - we flew in January 27th and flew back on the 29th!

As such, I believe you on the cold weather! Man was it frigid.

I agree with you on the Elena meet, she was so great and easy to talk to. I'm a little familiar with her but haven't really watched the show either. I'm just so glad there's finally a latina princess.

That's awesome! Yeah, the weather was miserably cold! I couldn't believe how frigid it was for Florida :sad2:
I'm glad you like Elena too! I can't wait to see her show, I love how Disney is trying to bring some diversity to princesses!princess:

This is adorable! Let me just say, I know nothing about Elena (though I've seen an episode) but I am obsessed with her outfit - the detailing is so beautiful! I really hope she's on my friend's list to meet on our character day in April because ugh!

Rachel and I were commenting on her outfit too, Disney really did a great job with her costume and casting. She's just precious!
Thank you! Honestly, I was surprised too! It's hard to believe how much you can get done during EMH in the morning especially if you're not waiting in line for a big attraction :yay:

Magic Kingdom? More Like Magic Cranedom
Hi everybody! I decided that I would try to stick to a schedule of posting every Monday and Friday just to ensure I don’t under or over post and I thought it may make things a little more convenient for any of you that have been kind enough to read along. But keep a eye out for random posts because knowing myself, I'll get too excited and want to post more that twice a week, lol! Okay, enough with the boring stuff- let’s get into this! :wizard:
    *****
After our lovely visit with all the princesses, we headed out through the gift shop and back into Fantasyland. If I’m honest, sometimes I think I like the look of the back of the castle verses the front! Can anyone relate?
Spot that lovely crane in the background? Who doesn't adore the Magic Cranedom?

After our mini little photo shoot, it was time to get pixie dusted- off to Castle Couture!
It was still so early that there were CM’s just roaming around in there with nobody to help. We asked a sweet older CM to do it for us and he was so nice! I don’t have any pictures from this but I had Rachel to film it for us so you’ll be able to see it in my vlog! After getting thoroughly covered in glitter, we went back over to 7DMT to use the DAS. Through the FP+ line, we literally just walked on the ride! Because of the chilly morning, this was a pretty cold ride but I will say I think I enjoyed riding it the second time. However, I still don’t think I would wait more that 20 minutes to ride it. While it’s pretty thrilling, it just goes by so quick that you can’t enjoy it.:confused3

After hopping off 7D, it was time to meet Ariel at Ariel’s Grotto! Another short wait- just five minutes- to meet her. We were also handed out very first red card of the trip!!
I was so excited to see Ariel partly because after Aurora she’s my favorite princess. But I also was sporting a ParkBound button with her and Prince Eric on it with a Taylor Swift lyric on it.

    See?
But before we could make it up to her, we were behind a grandmother and a young girl. I don’t remember CM’s ever do this before but when you will come into the room for a character greet, they will actually bring you past the line and into the room but they want you to stand in the corner and be out of the way. Both Rachel and I were reluctant to do this because we could both tell that the little girl meeting Ariel in front of us was really nervous and a little scared. Neither of us wanted to crowd her and make her even more uncomfortable. But the character attendant was very adamant that we crowded into this little corner and waited. Maybe they’ve started do this to encourage guests to be ready and have their cameras and autograph books out but I think it kind of rushes the guests and character. :scratchin

ANYWAY, it was our turn pretty quick and I went over to show Ariel my button. She loved it, she was also very excited that I had fishes on my backpack strap so I turned that she could see the back of my bag too!

    Her face says it all:laughing:
Ariel loved Rachel’s crown and buttons and asked her if it was one of her treasures that she collected. I'm pretty sure I failed at getting any interaction pictures of Rachel and Ariel but in my defense, it was over really quick! :bitelip:
After waving bye to Ariel, it was time for me to do a first! The Little Mermaid Ride! I have no idea how I’ve missed this ride.
It was walk-on and while we were meandering through the queue, I noticed that there was a cast member down below near the water feature just casually picking weeds. I’ll never get over Disney’s amazing attention to detail.

I really liked this ride, I thought it was super cute! It reminded me of the Finding Nemo ride in EPCOT. You’re on an ongoing loop and it just takes you through scenes from the movie with snippets of the songs. Anybody else think that Ursula was really creepy on this ride? If I was a young child on this ride, I definitely would’ve been spooked by this!

By this point, we were pretty much done with New Fantasyland for the time being do it was time to head to Storybook Circus! We were probably about 45 minutes into EMH and you can see how empty the park still was!
    Keep Scrollin' Buckaroo!
