First this is not related to the Disney wedding part but to the Magical Express part of our trip.

We want to use magical express 1/2 way through our trip and they are saying no. We are flying in on a Monday out on a Fri and back in on Sat (until the following Sat). We figured it is easier to keep our room and not repack etc. "They" won't let us use Magical Express on Sat as it is not the first night of our stay. It seems to me that Disney can bend a rule if they want to and I am very upset they are not willing to. (we don't need ME during the first part of our stay)

We are flying in on Monday with my mother and renting a car. She doesn't want to fly alone so we are flying home with her on Fri and then back on Sat for a week. We are getting married during this time and between our rooms and wedding we are paying A LOT of money to Disney. We have 5 to 7 other guests that are staying on Disney because we rave about it. Another 10-12 staying off Disney who will be eating, getting park tickets etc thanks to us. We have stayed on Disney 6+ times so they get tons of money out of us.

I realize we could pay $50 or so and take Mears transportation but the whole thing annoys me. Especially considering how much money they are getting out of us. Maybe it is just wedding planning stress-argghh

I doubt Disney even cares about unhappy guests but doesn't anyone have an email address so I can tell them how I feel. And I want to let them know what a wonderful case member I dealt with on the phone. I am not as pleased with the ME people but I like to mention when I have serve that is above and beyond (and tell them they need to bend a rule now and then).

Thank you for letting me vent!!!

So much for Mears shuttle as they don't offer service to the Disney resorts.
It makes sense they don't offer a shuttle to Disney as why would someone want to do that when you can get free Disney transportation.......

I can rent a town car for about $80.

I know $80 is nothing in the whole scheme of things but it just really annoys me.

It does seem silly since you are starting your honeymoon trip on Saturday, I'm assuming.

However, I might suggest Tiffany Town cars. We have used them on many occasions and can get cupons(I don't remember where though). They have awesome service and will wait for you at the airport and take you straight to the hotel.

I don't know what to say about Disney's side of things. I'd ask your planner, maybe he or she has suggestions?

Thank you both for taking the time to respond.

Tiffany Town Cars will only cost us $60. I notice they will pick you up from Sanford which is where I would rather fly into anyway. Thanks for the tip.

Why don't you see about putting your items that you want to keep there in luggage storage at the resort and change your reservation so you check out on Fri and check back in on Sat. That way you are not paying for Fri night and you would be able to use DME.
I know you are keeping the room for the convenience, but if you can't use DME then is it really that convenient?

spacerangerqueen-thanks for taking the time to resond. By the way-your wedding pictures are lovely!!!

I haven't broken down the cost but there is some deal through Disney if you stay 5 nights or more. If we only stay 4 nights at first we won't get that rate. It probably is cheaper to check out that night. We are getting married Thurs, have the MK photo shoot set for Fri morning and would have to check out of the hotel by 11 or whenever Fri. I just don't want to be rushed (I know it sounds silly). And catch our flight by 2:00. I know I will be getting tried and cranky from being up early 2 mornings in a row, then flying home, flying back......

I am also hoping when my mom flies down she will see how easy flying direct is and not want/need us to fly home with her. I have a friend, her husband and 4 kids on the flight home and they are willing to help her. I feel so terrible because I don't want to pressure her but it would make it so easy (and cheaper) if we didn't have to fly home with her.

Thanks again for letting me vent.

Let me see if I have this right...you are arriving but renting a car for the first half (or so) of your stay. Then, you are going to drive back to MCO, fly with your mom, back home. Then the next day you are returning to MCO to continue your stay. I am assuming that you want to use DME for the 'second' arrival at MCO and the ride back to MCO at the end of your stay.
If so....you can do it. My dh and dd arrive on many occasions after I do..they have had no trouble whatsoever using DME on a day other than checkin. Every person who is listed on a resort reservation, at a WDW owned resort, is entitled to a ride from the airport to their resort and back to the airport. It doesn't matter when this transpires. I wouldn't worry about it. The worst that can happen is that you would be denied at the counter (which I find hard to beleive would happen in the first place) and then have to walk over to the Mears counter and spend $19 pp for the ride to the resort. You can get a ride to a Disney resort from Mears...you just can't book it in advance. You have to do it when you get to MCO. And, you would probably be put on the DME bus anyway. "IF" that were to happen, don't worry about your return to the airport. When you get back to your resort, just make arrangements then for your return on DME..that will not be any issue at all.
Hope this helps a little.

But, all in all...it sure would be easier if your mom could fly without you...that is a huge added expense for you. If there are going to be people there that she knows and can fly with, then hopefully she will be okay.

It is for our second arrival that i want to use DME. I spoke to a supervisor at ME who said you can only use ME on the day you arrive (and leave). I thought you had one round trip transport per vacation. I didn't realize it was a problem until I tried to add ME to our trip reservations. I explained my situation and she wouldn't budge,it is policy, etc. A CM first talk to DME and tried to arrange it and couldn't so I called DME myself.

I am glad to know you don't need to have a reservation with Mears. I do think I will try to book ME again with Disney and maybe a different person will let me.

I suppose if this is the worst that will go wrong with our whole trip is isn't a big deal. It is such a small thing and just annoys me.

I think I would more annoyed that you have to fly back and forth with your mom, at your expense, because she does not like to fly alone!

But I would call your planner and see what they can do. I am sure they will try and work something out.

The flying back and forth is kind of at my mom's expense since if she wasn't giving us a nice sum of money there would be no Disney wedding. Granted if I wasn't spending the money the extra flights I could put it towards the wedding.

My mom is worried about getting to the right gate etc. She has flown before but as she gets older she gets more nervous about things. Her health hasn't been the greatest either even I worry more about that then she does.

I don't know why I am so cranky over this. I will email our planner and see if she can help.

Thanks for listening.

Your not cranky - just stressed.:)

Would she feel OK if she had an escort at the airport that would make sure she got where she needed to be?

That's weird. They're allowing my dad to take it to the airport when he's just going to pick up a rental car...and they KNOW that! I was so afraid that when he told them that it was gonna be an automatic no, but they were really cool and allowed him to think about what time he wanted to be picked up, lol. So yea, I think it's weird that they wouldn't let you...esp. since from what I understand you wouldn't be using it more than the 2 times you're "supposed" to. I feel ya' on the money thing. You're paying so much/have paid so much that they should allow it.

and Mears doesn't offer service to Disney anymore? That's what we (my family and I) used to use before M.E. They must've stopped once M.E. started, cuz yea, what's the point after that? (guess they didn't think any situations like yours would happen)
