I recently bought a Marriott timeshare and was able to exchange the lock-off's 1-br portion into Marriott Grand Ocean for 2004's Labor Day week.

Anyone has stayed at both and can you give me a comparison between the two? I know in terms of location, it seems Grand Ocean has a better location for being right on the beach. However, for this trip, we will have 4 kids in our group, ages are 10, 8, 6, 3. how are the kids programs?

What are the pros and cons of each? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have stayed at both and own at Grande Ocean. There are a lot of activities going on during the week, they have a spread sheet type calendar posted. Just double check the times of the ones that interest you as the last time we were there, they had changed some and we missed out on a couple. Email me directly and I can give you some information about the resorts with a resort map and the like. I do like the location much better. You should ask for Dolphin, Pelican or Sandpiper as they are the buildings that would have completed their 10 year redo. The units are 1380 square feet and gorgeous. Some units have 2 queens in the second and others a queen and pullout.

Both are great resorts. DVC is in a nice location also. If I were going for a full week and needed a 2 BR GO wins hands down. For just a few days or other than a 2 BR, DVC is likely the better choice. Rental prices for Platinum GO time are $400 per night oceanside and $430 for oceanfront, plus tax. They rent 97% that are offered for rent year round.

GO has an indoor pool and 3 outdoor pools. It is right on the beach and have great broilmaster gas grills in two locations. They also have a putting green and shuffleboard. Boardgames are provided though I think they are at DVC as well. Marriott also gives a lot more discounts at local establishments than DVC though I cheat and use both.
