I was reading some of the threads & it sort of sounds like PPH has no more of a Disney feel than the offsite hotels do. For those of you who've also been to WDW, how does PPH compare to Yacht/Beach Club? Is there any comparison? FYI, to those who haven't been, Yacht Club has a nautical theme & Beach Club has a more relaxed, beach theme. They both have a Disney feel, they just don't scream Disney. We don't care about the pools. I'm just wondering about the decor & atmosphere. Does PPH have enough Disney touches to let you know you're on Disney property?

Paradise Pier is more of a relaxed beach theme, but still has a few Disney touches here and there. In each room is a lifeguard Mickey lamp and Mickey head shampoo and conditioner bottles. There is a silhouette of Goofy that lights up at night on the side of the parking garage and there is also a Goofy statue in the lobby. The rest of the decor is beach themed. The bed spreads have a palm tree print, the mirror by the window is shaped like a sun, and the room numbers are on small surf boards. There are also framed drawings of California Adventure on the walls. The carpet in the hallways is dark blue with various under the sea creatures (starfish, sea horses, etc.) Two nautical related items are the lighthouse lamp and the handles on the armoire which look like rope knots. Hope this helps! :)

PPH has a Disney feel, but muted. Just stayed at the YC this month and with its new decor (which was beautiful) I'd say they are similar in that regard, but YC has a much more upscale and updated feel. If you want that quiet but refined vibe, then PPH will seem a...bit...more Holiday Inn-ish.

I'd say PPH feels more like a moderate hotel at WDW, but without the extensive grounds and all. AND with inside entrances.

IMHO there really is no comparison. PPH is ok but like some of the research you have done there are many off site hotels that are the same if not better.

Our family has found that the WDW resort hotels are by far superior to the ones we have in California. I think it is because they have more room to play with.

Don't get me wrong the Hotels of the DL Resort offer a nice stay with the GCH being at the top, however all 3 DL resort hotels still all offer that extra Disney feel that many are looking for when they take a Disney Vacation.

So with that being said you really can't go wrong with staying onsite at any of the Disney Resorts and I really just wanted to clarify our family opinion.

But like the old saying goes " To each there own "

So what we see or think other's may not, therefor it simply is just that " An Opinion " nothing more.

Thanks to all of you for the replies & to Disney Dreams for the pictures. The room decor is a little lacking in the Disney dept. Disney related bedding would help a lot. Thanks for the mod vs. deluxe warning. We would be okay with that, if we knew it in advance. The thing I don't like about WDW's mods is the outdoor entrance, so PPH has that in it's favor. It's definitely on our short list.

Having just stayed at the Yacht Club this past June, I can honestly say that the PPH doesn't really compare. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice, but on the moderate side in comparison. I'd be happy to stay there, but it's just not as lavish at the YC.
