Hey, I'm just off the boat and am considering buying either bc or bw. For us we are looking for access to Epcot during FAWF and have a 7 yr old. Can you tell me how much farther access is from bw than bc and the advantages one over the other. Access is the only reason we don't buy AKL. We notice some great resale deals on bw, but not on bc. Most bc offers are stripped and we were hoping for a little better. I've not actually scene stormalong bay. Have heard conflicting info. like bc to busy/difficult to get tables and such. Boardwalk sounds too adult based. Should we go for the deal at BW or take the hit and buy bc. I really trust your knowledgable opinions.
:wizard:

I think it boils down to personal preference. We stayed at the BW last January and this January we are staying at the BCV (using our points for the first time). We loved the night life at on the BW itself. My little ones loved watching the juggler or the piano player. We liked that once the parks were closed we could come back to the hotel, get some hotel chocolate and sit on a bench and people watch.

We wanted to try the BCV because of how close it is to the International Gateway at EPCOT. My DH loves the British Invasion and wants to see them as much as possible this trip. I also am hoping for some good weather to try SAB.

I think where ever you end up buying points you should be happy. :)

Thanks so much. It sounds like BW has it's positives. How long was the walk to Epcot from there and did you check out the pool. Any other positives? The problem is all my info. is from research we haven't actually seen either resort and first hand experiance is priceless.

Stayed at both and I like the BC better. Both resorts are a very short walk to Epcot, no more than 10 mins. for Epcot and about double for MGM.

I usually dont walk MGM, too much for me. I'm not a young spring chicken anymore:guilty:

One of the advantages of owning at BWV vs BCV is that BWV has different categories (and views) of villas, so it can be cheaper in point usage than the same time in BCV. :thumbsup2
If you're okay with standard views (facing the front of the resort), you can make those points stretch for more days in WDW. :cool1: Or, if you want to treat yourself, you can reserve a BW view for the same number of points as any preferred villa. Both of these categaories have limited availability, so the 11-month booking window for owners can be important during popular times, such as F&W and holidays. :goodvibes

Some of my reflections:
In my opinion, the pool at BCV blows away all other pools.

We like Hurricane Hannahs for quick eats. While BWV has a great bakery, the quick service food options at BWV are not as strong as BCV.

The views from BWV Boardwalk view are spectacular. We have never enjoyed our view at BCV.

While both are short walks to EPCOT, the walk to MGM is much shorter from BWV.

The bus service from both of them to MK and AK stinks.

The hallways at BWV can be very long.

These are factors both for and against each resort. They are two of our favorite resorts! Hope that helps! :)

For me, the entire Epcot resort area is such a big draw. There is so much to do within walking distance. 2 parks, mini golf, 10+ places to eat, boardwalk night life.

But, the diciding factor on where we stay is the pool. YC / BC's pool can't be beaten.

Swan and Dolphin we dislike because they are missing just a touch of Disney feal. BW, ... just something about it makes it feal wrong.

YC / BC is perfect. It would be my first choice (almost was) DVC purchase. 2nd would be WL.

Are both resorts about the same walking distance from Epcot? I'm seeing quite a few positives for Boardwalk. How hard is it to book these resorts at the 7 month window? Anyone with other great positives we haven't addressed?

BCV is closer to Epcot than BWV, and BCV has SAB.

BWV has the great Boardwalk view rooms.

I love them both (and own at both).

Please keep the great information coming. I was wondering does bc or bw have a game room like at wL where they have checkers and such?

BCV is the shorter walk.

It takes about 7 to 10 minutes to get to EPCOT from BCV. It takes about 5 minutes more from the BWV to EPCOT(possibly more if you're at the far end of BWV).

Both have arcades. BWV has community hall which has free (for DVC) ping-pong table, games, movie rentals, video games, fooze ball(sp?), activity tables for children (with colors, markers, etc), can rent tennis raquets and bikes from there as well. BCV does not have a community hall but you can walk to BWV and use that one if you're staying at BCV.

If pools matter to you (they don't to us), then BCV has the better pool.

If walking to MGM (now DHS I think) matters to you, then it's much closer walk from BWV than BCV...about 10 minutes closer when walking.

Having the three different booking categories at BWV is also a plus.

Okay, So I know SAB is nice, Like a water park, a ship slide, sand bottom and a free float area. Does anyone know the reason everyone loves it so? I've heard that bc is noisy and busy and it's hard to get waited on and service. ( the guide at disney trying to sell me AK) Is any of this true? What made your experience at bc or bw magical? I can walk to bw for the street performers. How long is that walk from bc to bw? Any stop dead for reasons you like to book these resorts or buy at them?

Thanks so much, I'm really blown away by the amount of help you're giving me!!

Okay. I'll chime in again. Maybe others will too.

The pool is like a mini-waterpark for the reasons you listed above. But SAB is not enough of a reason for me to pick BCV over BWV (we're not big into pools). I have also heard that during peak and medium times it's almost impossible to get chairs at the pool since it stays rather crowded. The pool didn't seem too crowded when we went early Dec 2005, but we only walked by it a few times. It was too cold for my girls to swim in at that time. I have heard that the zero entry of SAB is nice for the young children that don't know how to swim yet. It gives them a place to play. The sand is actually a draw-back for us, but many folks like that as well.

My DDs (ages 2 and 4) like the kiddie pool and spraying elephant at the BWV pool just fine, along with the playground right next to it. As they get older, I'm sure they'll like the waterslide at BWV as well.

The BCV were nice but I'll pick BWV over them each time (more on that later). I can't say that BCV was any noisier or busier than the other hotels, though. It is smaller and less spread out than BWV so that may make it seem busier and noisier.

What made your experience at bc or bw magical?

BWV seem to have more options and things to do without having to walk too far to get to them. I like that the BWV has community hall right there along with a playground for my girls. The shops, bakery, ducks, boats, restaurants, surreys and entertainers are all just right there. Speaking of boats, BCV shares the boat with YC so you have a bit of a walk to get to it. It is actually faster to just walk to EPCOT than to walk over to the boat ramp to catch a boat to EPCOT.

I also like that I don't have to walk as far from MGM. We decided to walk back one night to BCV from MGM and that was quite a walk (especially with a then 2.5 and 1 year old in tow).

I LOVE the Boardwalk views at the BWV. They're hard to beat. IMHO even the preferred views are better than those at BCV. Some families don't give a hoot about the views b/c they're never in their rooms. With our girls as young as they are we're on the balconies quite often and it's the first place our little ones head when we get there. I often times sit out there and read or people watch while waiting for the girls to finish their afternoon naps. So the view matters to us.

The Boardwalk area is my favoite place to stay, so I'll stay at either one, but BWV is my first choice.

I can walk to bw for the street performers. How long is that walk from bc to bw?

As I mentioned in my previous post, it takes about 5 minutes to get from BC to the Boardwalk--maybe less if you're a fast walker.

Any stop dead for reasons you like to book these resorts or buy at them?

I would book and buy at the BWV over the BCV because of the better views and closer amenities. BCV is too small for our tastes and too isolated from the goings-on at the Boardwalk (which is the very reason some folks choose to buy or stay at the BCV).
