Compare AKL to DVC

I know it's not a good value for points, but we would like to experience the views at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. What's the difference between the savannah view and the deluxe savannah view -- is the view different, or the room? Are there rooms available with a frig and microwave, and if so, can we rent one with points? I never thought I'd consider it "roughing it" to stay at a deluxe resort, but after staying at DVC resorts, I don't know...

I saw a deluxe room two weeks ago (the cast member whose responsibility it was let me in to look. The view was more panoramic & it was bigger. I wasn't looking for a fridge so I don't recall if one was there but I would be shocked if there wasn't an honor bar. Definitely no microwave.

Most hotels will rent you a fridge because there are many people with medications that require refrigeration.

The room itself was located at the end of the wing. I think the suites are located in the "turrets".

My suggestion is don't waste your points. Instead either use Disney Club or buy an annual pass. The rates at AKL with either of those is about $180 a night. $180 would translate to about 18 points and that isn't what Disney is asking. Of course rack rate is a different story. If you need to...rent your points and use the cash to pay for AKL.
