I thought I read somewhere that AKV will have a community center and a half basketball court. Will this be in the Kidani Village? I don't see that anywhere on the map I have.

Also, will there be a merchandise shop in the Kidani Village? I ask this because it looks as if you would have to get in a car and drive or take a bus to the main AKL.

From the public DVC information website:
Scheduled to Open Early 2009 at Kidani Village:

Barbeque Pavilion
Fire up the grills, and picnic alfresco or in the covered area located near the sports courts of Kidani Village.

Basketball and Shuffleboard Courts
Shoot some hoops at the half-court, or slide on over for a gripping game of shuffleboard. Use of equipment is complimentary and available at Community Hall.

Community Hall
Looking for rainy day activities? Drop by for planned activities, arts and crafts, board games, table tennis, foosball, Sony PlayStation®2, or downtime TV viewing.

Johari Treasures
Find fascinating gifts, Disney Vacation Club logo merchandise, toys or various sundries and groceries you may need. Located in the lobby, this shop has what you're looking for — including complimentary DVD rentals for Disney Vacation Club Members.

Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center
Work out with weights or on treadmills, bicycles or elliptical cross trainers. Located near Samawati Springs Pool, this fitness center is open to all Walt Disney World® Resort Guests over 14 years of age; an adult must accompany Guests under age 18 at all times.

Safari So Good Arcade
Test your arcade skills while you play classic and new games in this high-tech entertainment room located near the lobby.

Samawati Springs Pool
Cool off in this zero-entry pool that features a 128-ft. long water slide. Take relaxation to a whole new level in one of the two whirlpool spas near the main pool, or refresh at Maji Pool Bar.

Tennis Court
Grab a partner and serve up some fun on the courts near the Barbeque Pavilion. Use of equipment is complimentary and available at Community Hall.

Uwanja Camp
Climb elevated-rope bridges, dash through geyser jets, or relax in the waterfall lagoon or beneath the shade of the camp cabanas in this village playground themed as an animal observation site known as Uwanja Camp — uwanja means "play area." Explore three distinct zones in this children's interactive water-play area — the base camp, the departure zone and the observation station; each area has its own character and activities for age-specific groups.

*Please note that features and amenities are subject to change, and some activities require a fee, need reservations and/or have certain age requirements.

Thanks Michael. I knew I read that somewhere. It looks as if it can act as basically a stand alone resort.

Hmm... what is the resturant going to be like? Will they have kid type food?

From public DVC info site:
Dining at Kidani Village (scheduled to open in early 2009)

Sanaa
Indulge your senses! Sanaa, meaning "work of art," defines the atmosphere and the cuisine at this restaurant — with beautifully prepared food and an atmosphere simmering with style. Relax in the comfortable lounge that is adjacent to the spacious dining room. Savor breakfast and dinner here.

Maji Pool Bar
Maji means "water" — water, water everywhere! If you're looking for something cool to drink to revive you from the heat, whether it's water or something more unusual, look no further than this bar located near Samawati Springs Pool.

Well that description is very vague isn't it? Basically it doesn't tell you a thing about the type of food servered there.

If my memory serves me, I think I remember reading somewhere that the food would have some Indian spices with an African influence. But I could be remembering incorrectly.

The post on specifics of Kidani mentions Samawati Springs Pool having a 128 Foot Slide....Sounds nice!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know comparison to SAB Slide? That one is also awesome! Fun!     :yay: :yay:

Terry S!

I haven't seen you on the boards for a while! If I've been blind as a bat, apologies...otherwise - welcome back!

I thought the number 128 foot slide was thrown around here somewhere.

Does that mean high or long?

Just curious! Slides are so much fun and appealing to the kids! SAB slide is awesome!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Yes, Anyone have an idea of how long the SAB slide is?

From what I can tell from the artists rendering of Kidani Village it looks like Community Hall will be near the pool. It's part of the big round structure in the artists rendering.

Also, the half basketball, tennis and other activity amenities appear to be a short walk from the pool complex.

As far as the slide goes, the BWV Keister Coaster slide is nearly 200ft. I believe it is 195ft.. The slide at Kidani will be comparable to the slide at SSR, maybe a touch longer.

The lobby is where the gift shop will reside.

Actually, Community Hall will be near the lobby on the 2nd floor (remember 1st floor is parking) and will have a Savanna view. It will be in the first building segment south of the lobby and will be across from the Arcade.:thumbsup2 Take a look at the diagrams below that were filed when they declared the first Kidani units to get an idea of its location.

Also looks like there will be a DVC Sales office there as well although the area labeled as "Sales" in the diagram may well apply to something else for all I know.:confused3
