Wow, here we go...this is a daunting task after reading so many GREAT pre-trip reports! First, if a sentence doesn't read correctly it is because my brain is a lot faster than my typing! Now introducing the cast:
Me (will be refered to as "I" or "Me": true Disney freak, can't get enough and would go twice a year if we could afford it and NEVER be bored with it!
DH (will be referred to as "dh"...pretty original so far!): likes WDW but not paying for it...goes so often because it makes me so happy.
DS (call him luke....luke skywalker). He is 7 and a Star Wars junkie. Loves it and can't wait to see the Starwars area at MGM...looks at it daily online!
DD (call her Ariel Grace Green Kid...or Ariel for short). She is 3 and will turn the big "4" while on our upcoming trip! She has really asked us to call her Ariel Grace Green Kid and yes she LOVES green and that hasn't changed since she was 2!
Ok, so that is us. The typical All-American family. 2 kids (one of each) and a puppy at home (a 7 month old English Shepherd named Honey). Our trip starts like this:
Me: Wouldn't it be great to go to WDW in December of 2007?
Dh: Yep if we can save enough and the business is doing well. (we owe our own business)
2 weeks later:
Me: Our CPA says we are getting $$ back on our taxes!
Dh: Looks like you should start looking into WDW for December
Me: OK! as all he sees is my dust as I RUN to the computer.
1 hour later:
Me: Honey, (dh, not puppy) guess what! We can save $1500 by going in Aug because they have free dining! We don't have to worry about over dosing on hotdogs this time!
Dh: That sounds hot....you don't do well with hot.
Me: If Mickey can do it so can I!
Dh: Okkkkkk....lets do it!
Here is where things start getting hairy:
I have never been to WDW and not had to worry about $$ for food! It is easy to plan a trip without making ADR's! Now I had to start making my LISTS....I am famous for lists. I had a list for what park opened 1st and stayed open late, what restaurants we always wanted to eat at but couldn't, and what extra parties where happening and when, along with a list of times for parades/fireworks so we didn't have anything overlapping. I tried to show my dh but he just smiled and said "have fun"! My first list of where we wanted to eat and what day and time has been revised probably 3 times over but I think we have it:
Aug 25 (hang out at POP)
Aug 26: Liberty Tree Tavern 6:20
Aug 27: Whispering Canyon 1:30
Aug 28: (dd's bday) Norway princess breakfast at 9:05 & Crystal Palace 4:55 along with Pirate & Princess Party
Aug 29: RECOVER at OKW maybe do Downtown Disney (ds heard you can make your own lightsaber....that should go through security to get home right!)
Aug 30: Hollywood & Vine 4:20 w/ VIP Fantasmic Seating
Aug 31: Garden Grill 6:30
Sept 1: swim until ME takes us to the airport to go to that horrible 4 letter word.....HOME!
We started at ASMu because POP was full. We really wanted POP since we have never stayed there so I knew I would have to start my daily call to WDW until I was able to get moved. Luckily it only took me about a week before we were able to get moved....I think they may have finished the buildings across the pond just so I would stop calling! So now we had our hotel Aug 26-Sept 1 and all our ADR's....now for our flight! We always fly Airtran and they had a $89 flight the day before or $129 on the 26th. It was cheaper to add a night at POP than to pay extra for our tickets
. So back on the phone with WDW and assured them I wasn't changing our room again we just wanted to add another night! So 2 weeks after making my initial phone call we had hotel, transfers, flights and all our meals planned out and booked. What a wonderful feeling..... we will continue next time with the magical email! Thanks for reading my ramblings!
