Our next order of business is to finish up with our updates sent to us yesterday.

First some pics of the entertainment...

Next, the food pics...

Salad and corn bread

"Oh, they also served strawberry shortcake, but I guess I didn't take a picture. Sorry."

But Eric did remember to take a picture of a sweet treat that he got later last night at Magic Kingdom's...

Ready to report starting Saturday Sept. 28!

My DH Dave and I will arrive at WDW on Saturday for our 20th Anniversary Celebration Trip. We went to the World for our Honeymoon in '93 and have returned many times, especially since becoming DVC Owners.

Looking forward to visiting many of our fave places and the F&W Festival!

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread as I LOVE looking at all the pics and reading all the reviews.

:cool1:

Next in last night were some updates from seasidespences. The first one was from their lunch yesterday at Rainforest Cafe. Unfortunately, this time I received the text part of her update but no photos. :worried:

The good news though is that her dinner update came through to me in its entirety, which makes me happy because seasidespences had dinner last night at...

She said, "Dinner tonight was at California Grill...my most anticipated meal! I was not disappointed! "

"To start we had the bread service which was good."

"For apps DD had the lettuce wraps...

... and DS had the iceberg wedge."

"Honestly, these were both good but my kids' palates haven't expanded to this level yet...neither like salad and they've never tried lettuce wraps. We knew that neither app would be a success but we had them order one just to try something new."

"On the other hand, DH's app and mine were superb! He had the prawns...

Baked Jumbo Prawns - Charred Lemon, Blistered Baby Tomato and Cipollini Onion Relish, Watercress

... while I had the oven-dried tomato flatbread."

Oven-dried Tomato Flatbread - Beefsteak Tomatoes, Mozzarella di Bufala, Aged Balsamic

"For entrees, DD had the kid's tenderloin...

...and DS had the grilled chicken breast.

"DH had another filet (anyone detecting a trend here?)...

Oak-fired Filet of Beef - Heirloom Tomato Risotto, Marinted Baby Vine Tomatoes, Petite Basil, Tomato Butter

... and I had the Bell & Evans chicken."

Bell & Evans Chicken - Teriyaki Barbecue Glaze, Truffle Macaroni & Cheese, Glazed Vegetables, Chicken Sausage

"I couldn't have asked for a better entree, the truffle Mac & Cheese that went with this was great too!"

"After our entrees it was time to go out to watch the fireworks. What an amazing site to view the fireworks from...I never dreamed that the view would be that good!"

"When we came back in it was time for dessert. Both kids had the "sushi"...

"DH had the seasonal sampler...

Seasonal Tasting: Heirloom Apple - Apple Cupcake with Cream Cheese and Streusel, Warm-spiced Cider, Peanut Butter Caramel Apple, and Apple Cheddar Turnover with Compote and Cardamom Glaze

... while I had the sundae sampler."

Sundae Sampler - Unique and playful Sundaes with a nostalgic twist: Caramel Corn, Coke Float, and Strawberry and Basil

"All were great....we were just hitting the limits of our stomachs at this point."

"Overall, a great experience...enhanced even more by the fact that we were seated directly in front of the open kitchen...what fun to watch!!"

Just received the missing photos from seasidespences' lunch update from yesterday. She and her family dined at Animal Kingdom's...

Rainforest Cafe

She said, "Everything we had was good (not great), just basic chain restaurant food. The difference here was the atmosphere...while DH and I have been to a Rainforest Cafe before...our kids have not...it was a treat for their eyes!"

"DH had the fried mozzarella sticks...

... and I had the crab dip app."

"For entrees the kids had a hot dog and ribs...
[no pic of ribs received]

... while DH and I had burgers (DH's burger was a double!)."

"We weren't able to finish our meals and we decided to skip dessert because tonight we are looking forward to filling our bellies at California Grill! Yay!"
:woohoo:

Hi Barb! Checking in for October reporting.

The kids and I will be there from 10/10 through 10/18. Brian plans to join us for part of the trip.

We are celebrating Brianna's birthday, so this trip will be catered to her. We are staying at All-Star Movies. My dining plans are still pretty sketchy since I booked this trip so late, but I'm hoping to do mostly character and QS meals. So far I have Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fair reserved.

And we'll be testing magic bands if I can get it all figured out with our passes. Some our current and some will need to be renewed when we get there.

Looking forward to being a live reporter again!

Our last two updates received last night were sent to us by DeeDee (buzz1121).

The first of these was from their breakfast yesterday at...

First some menu pics...

Dinner menu

Chef's Tasting Menu

Breakfast menu

Kids menu

DeeDee said, "This was our first dining experience at Kouzzina. DH ordered the Spinach, tomato, and feta scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes, bacon, and a multi-grain croissant."

"He had been looking forward to ordering this and he was not disappointed."

"I chose the Golden Classic Waffle with mascarpone cheese, honey, and pecans with bacon."

"I shared bits of my waffle with the baby so I asked for the honey to be on the side. I enjoyed my breakfast and despite sharing with DD I was not quite able to polish it off."

"DD mixed up her bits of waffle with a few Cheerios and some Gerber multi-grain blueberry puffs."

"We had great service at Kouzzina and would not hesitate to return. It was a great way to start off our first full day in the World."

Hi There! Checking in for October Reporting! :cool1:

My DH (PirateFuzzball here on the boards) and I are getting the chance to leave our daughter with my parents and have a weeklong adults trip to celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary!:yay::cheer2::love: We will miss her dearly but are looking forward to investing in our Marriage! Our trip will be from 10/11-10/17. Our actual anniversary is 10/14 and will fall smack in the middle of the trip.

Both DH and I have been to WDW before but it has been 10 years for me and 10+ for DH. This will be the first time as adults for both of us. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to try to do a full trip report or not yet.

Interesting tidbits to know before we get there:

DH was born and raised in Hawaii. While he is looking forward to all our meals expect anything Disney passes off as Hawaiian to live up to its title. I am sure we will know if they get something wrong.

There is one thing that we are both anxiously anticipating because from all that we have seen and read points to at least strong similarities to a favorite Hawaiian dish of ours called Baked Mauna Pua. Believe it or not the closest thing we can find (by just menus and reviews alone) so far is actually found in the China Pavilion. A top anticipated food for us is the Chinese BBQ Pork Buns from the Joy of Tea Stand!

We also are looking forward to our dinner at O’hana to start off our trip.

We defiantly plan on hitting up the Food and Wine booths, but don’t expect many alcohol updates from us. I can’t drink it due to medical issues and DH isn’t a big drinker either.

Other Restaurants that we plan on eating at:

BOG dinner
POR dinner +maybe lunch
Sci-fi Dine in
F&W booths (food only)
Boatwrights
Via Napoli (We will see how hungry we are at the time. This may end up canceled) Dinner
Earl of Sandwich Lunch + maybe a breakfast
Flame Tree BBQ

A few places we are undecided about:
The Wave Dinner
Turf Club Dinner
Planet Hollywood
Paradiso37 (That crazy corn review was to die for but we aren’t thrilled by many of the reviews so still aren’t sure)

One last update from yesterday to post, and it's from DeeDee's (buzz1121) lunch at Epcot's...

She said, "For lunch we had another new to us restaurant to visit, and it's one that you don't see too many reviews for, Nine Dragons in the China Pavilion of World Showcase. The restaurant is beautiful inside with colorful lanterns and a contemporary decor."

"The entire staff was gracious and attentive. I enjoy iced unsweetened tea and I believe I had my favorite at WDW today at Nine Dragons. It is a blackberry jasmine iced tea that had such a refreshing taste. It was so good."

"DH ordered the special of the day, General Tso's Chicken."

"The chicken was served with jasmine rice. He enjoyed the meal, though he did add that while not the best General Tso's chicken he had ever had, it was a good, simple meal."

"I had the Chinese Chicken Salad, with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, golden raisins, walnuts and Chinese noodles."

"The salad was very good and was a nice, light meal particularly because I had in mind a snack that I needed to save room for. ;) The chicken was boiled and was shredded on top. Little DD loved it and ate a good bit of it."

"I would return to Nine Dragons again. The service was terrific, the meal was good, and they have that great tea! :) As a side note, our server was kind enough to tell me where they purchase the yummy tea, ChinaMist.com. I have already scoped the site out and found several teas that interest me."

Just to whet everyone's F&W appetites, there is noticeable activity within the booths with chefs training employees on how to prepare the various offerings.

The cranberry bog is not filled in yet, but the empty container is there hidden behind shrubs. I'll try to get some pictures soon.

DH and I will be in Epcot on Thursday so if there are particular items you would like to see just list them and we will do our best to get them, photograph them, and review them for you. ;)

Now, we're off to dinner at San Angel Inn. It's been steady raining here all day.

Trying to book something for our anniversary in October, and I thought at long last we'd try California Grill again...we ate there during our honeymoon and were just kinda 'meh' about it. But the reviews since the renovation have me really worried! Not sure whether we should chance it or not!

I know what you mean. I had an ADR for 10/6 but cancelled. Between the menu, wish washy reviews and honestly even the pics of the food, I canceled for Flying Fish. It would be so convenient too since we're staying at BLT. Maybe next trip.
