Coming from the Great White North in August WE'RE BACK.2nd DAY PTs1&2POSTED PAGE 23

Sounds like everything is falling into place! :goodvibes We too have had a busy week, and it seems to continue into next week as well. I love the warp speed pulls of bandaids too! lol :rotfl:They work great for DD!! It sure has seemed like summer here finally!! :cheer2:Sunblock out and almost used a tube so far...lol I think we went from winter right through to summer! I have a question for you guys.:worship:..I haven't gone to WDW in the summer with a child, only with DH and me. So I was wondering how your kids take it? DD5 (will be turning 6 there) just gets kinda tired here from the heat. But I think she has a great tolerance to the heat/humidity. We have the misting fans, and I am pretty sure we are going to head back for a swim/rest in the afternoons. Is that what you do with your guys?? Do you have any other tips for us?? Plus the hat question...DD hates hats, at best she may wear a bucket hat for a bit, is that a huge issue that she wears one?? She never really wears one here at all. She prefers to have her hair done with bows etc....lol She does wear sunglasses though. Thanks so much!

Yeah for Summer:goodvibes Jasmine, Thomas and I spent yesterday at Brenda's pool, it was absolutely gorgeous, I think it got to 30 degrees:banana:

WDW with small children in the summer.....it's fun!!! We take the afternoon break everyday no exceptions. It's far too warm and sticky not too...by 1230 everyday we were headed back to the hotel, swim, have a rest/nap...shower change out for dinner and some rides after dinner. It is not like going in Nov/Dec where you can stay all day, but I personally like summer better. It forces you to take a break and actually relax:yay: I tended to be one of those park commandos....things have changed:lmao Never mind Mini Montana having a meltdown...Queen could easily have one if she didn't get her pool time:rolleyes1 See Peg, I can admit it.....

We only took misting fans to the park once, found them a pain to carry around but that's just us:confused3 I found going into rides/shows to cool down worked well for us.

Ahhhh, the hat issue. Between Peg's kiddies and mine, we've never had an issue with hats....Are you bringing/renting a stroller? We found that so helpful, when Mini Montana was tired she had the option to sit.

Hope this helps, I'm sure Peg will have a few opinions of her own.....:love:

Are you guys starting to get sper excited??? Before we leave we will have to pick a day to meet for our cocktail:worship:

OK, I think I can post again on the DISboards (knock on wood!).

Sorry, HyperMommy, I call it BBQing too :lmao: I'm mighty good at it too, if I do say so myself :laughing:

Sorry about the bandaid pull - quicker is better, no matter how you look at it! Poor little MM though :sad1: I hope SW's ankle is feeling better - no fun hobbling around, especially during the summer! :eek:

Oh, as for the flights, Gravol works wonderfully, in my experience. Makes sleeping onboard a whole lot easier :thumbsup2

Yay for a countdown calendar! Love to see a picture of it :upsidedow

My boys do better with some idea of what to expect too - especially Tigger. No schedule at all equals definite trouble here!

I've been thinking about the misting fans too - would they fit into our various park bags? I have a Heys Travelmate and both boys have fanny packs. I also have no clue where to even get a misting fan :rotfl:

Wearing hats hasn't been an issue here either - wearing hats in the sun is nearly as non-negotiable as wearing a helmet when riding anything with wheels here. Perhaps a hat with a fun strap would help make wearing a hat more pleasant for your dd, DisneyBrat? Now, sunglasses I have a tough time getting my boys to keep those on - dunno why :confused3

As for your awesomely low ticker countdown, I just have one thing to say:
:dancer::dancer::dancer:

Hi! Your trip sounds like it is going to be A LOT of fun!!! The exchanges between all of you are cracking me up!

Oh I am so glad you have wandered over here:worship::worship:You have an amazing group of followers on your tr so I am thrilled you have posted. Yeah we're a fun bunch too. I'm the most fun no matter what else you may hear/read. Hoping to pick up some tips about AKL from you. Did your kids do the kids club or any of the kid activities at AKL?

I am thrilled that summer has finally arrived :banana::banana:
Ah yes the heat and humidity question. I was obsessed last summer, I thought we were going to melt(particularly me):lmao:We brought spray fans but as Queen said they are heavy and we really didn't use them. We didn't put them in our bags because they leaked a bit. I didn't want to leave them in the stroller in case someone stole them. After a day or two we left them in the hotel. We did do the early morning and made sure to drink lots of water. Mini Montana is great about drinking water but Snow not so much. I bought the fancy bottle topper with straws because I thought that would encourage water drinking. Well, the water then tasted funny, kind of like the plastic of the straw even after I washed it, and then if the bottle wasn't empty it would leak when it fell over. I believe those ended up in the garbage:scared1: The hat thing, Mini Montana gets hot in her hats and doesn't enjoy wearing them when she's hot. half the time they were off because of rides. I think when we were walking from one place to another we had them wear the hats, otherwise they were off. The ride waiting areas are usually sheltered and often air conditioned so that helps, I put them in board shorts and rash guards so they could dry quickly if they got wet on Kali River or Splash etc. We did try and stay in the parks later a couple of days and it really didn't pay. By noon we were so done with the heat we would have lunch at the resort and then hit the pool even if it was only for 30 min and then A/C rest in our room. Back for dinner in the eve. It's still hot but the sun sets early so you don't have that to add to the heat. Drink lots, do long A/C rides for breaks as well as pm breaks and have fun!

OK, I think I can post again on the DISboards (knock on wood!).

:dancer::dancer::dancer:

Did I miss something? Why couldn't you post? I have to post the countdown calendar. School is almost finished. Snow goes on Monday:scared1:can you believe that? That's her last day. I'm pretty sure there won't be very many kids there. We're heading to Fargo for some mother/daughter bonding time with instructions to her that she's not allowed to let me buy her anymore clothes! I finally put away all her summer clothes and she has plenty. I was so worried about the heat last year in Disney I bought so many tanks and shorts for them.
I never put the spray fans in our bags because of leaks. We really found them heavy and cumbersome.

PS Don't tell Hypermommy but I'm good at BBQ-ing too and it's not grilling:rolleyes1

:welcome: We do enjoy ourselves, we are easily entertained!

I hope you will stay along with us for this wild and crazy ride:lmao:

Oh, I am staying -- don't you worry! :laughing:

See, I am already laughing again! :lmao:

We did do a couple of the kids' activities and one of them actually took place in the kids club -- I was very impressed with the set-up!

I was having trouble posting too yesterday, but it eventually worked...maybe a few choice words at the laptop worked for me:rolleyes1

I am so doing gravol this year....last year was not pretty...makes me gag just to think about it:sick: It was so much easier when I travelled on my own and could have a gravol, a double southern comfort and 7-up...slept like a baby from Toronto to Scotland....now people expect me to be responsible:lmao:

I think we're down to six or seven weeks....you would think I would know this wouldn't you:dance3:

Yeah, we're going to have so much fun.....Taunting Peg and her children is sport for me....you'll see in upcoming posts. I think MM is coming to stay with her auntie while her mommy abondons....whoops....goes on a holiday without her;)

Jasmine's too old to go to kids clubs now.....she is with me all time.....asking for money:rolleyes1

Queen, Peg, and Lisa...TY so much for all of your tips!!!:worship: It really helps, as DD has never been in the heat, and it was in 2001 when DH and I were there in June, so we definatly needed a refresher! DH and I have been talking about renting a car, we are going to try and get to Universal and Sea World, also he wants to go to the beach! Sounds like we had better start some planning too!!! Well off to enjoy the dry but windy day!!

Glad to help DisneyBrat.
We got to sit outside and watch a soccer playoff game yesterday:scared1:I don't think we got that wet in Tropical Storm Faye;)Then we were supposed to go to a Goldeyes game last night, yep cancelled. Honestly, I know we needed some rain, som being the key word. We didn't need a months worth of rain in two days.:sad2:

And it's still raining! :sad2:

It wouldn't be so bad if it was like the warm rain you get in Florida, but this stuff is miserable! Oh well, in a few more days it won't matter! :goodvibes

So it sounds like your trip is coming along nicely. The way our trip has been expanding, we might still be there when you arrive! :rotfl:

Ahem, I am sure you meant to add "meet BOTH of you" right:confused3..... Hope King Charming has a great Father's Day. Geodoc had to work today:sad2:

Absolutely I meant "meet BOTH of you"! I figured me meeting you was a given since it's you I "met" first on here. Yeah, that's the ticket. Now wait just a minute while I get this foot out of my mouth.

We have proof, Titanic, need I say more??

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

PS Don't tell Hypermommy but I'm good at BBQ-ing too and it's not grilling:rolleyes1

Okay, we gotta get this thing cleared up right here and now. BBQ involves mucho amounts of time (hours and hours) of slow cooking, usually some rubs (we won't even talk about how much fun it is to rub the spices into the raw meat) and several layers of BBQ sauce (mustard based, of course!). So now y'all tell me exactly how it is that y'all make BBQ.

Taunting Peg and her children is sport for me....you'll see in upcoming posts. I think MM is coming to stay with her auntie while her mommy abondons....whoops....goes on a holiday without her;)

Jasmine's too old to go to kids clubs now.....she is with me all time.....asking for money:rolleyes1

LOL and you do it QUITE well!!! It is soooooo much fun to watch someone else for whom kids are just entertaining little people to taunt and tease. Of course I do the same with mine!

Asking for money... ain't that the truth. Too bad there's not some way we could have raised these kids into teenagers without them knowing what money is all about, ain't it?

Hi Queen and PurplePeg!

Your families are beautiful!!
I am so glad I finally found your tr!
The plans sound awesome and your going to a lot of restaurants that I haven't been to so I am excited to see how they are!
Can't wait to read more!

How exciting for Peg to go on a Holiday without the kids. It's nice to get away every once in a while. That's sweet of you to look after them. I suggest saving the torturing until close to the end of the trip so that Peg and Geodec can deal with the fallout instead of you.

:cheer2::yay::woohoo:Welcome and glad you have hopped on the bandwagon:woohoo::yay::cheer2: We will definitely be providing reviews and pictures of the dining. We love our food in case you hadn't noticed:laughing: Thanks for the kind words about our families, we think they're pretty great too but we are biased:rotfl:

Oh you are so funny....no I'm not going alone, I'm taking Snow White with me. Just a girls trip. I did it at the end of school last year because I made her do extra homework all year to try and improve her grades so it was a reward. This year she asked because "I want to spend some alone time with you" :love:Well how can you say no to that:confused3

I believe in Canada BBQ is a verb as in we BBQ our food and the grills are called bbq's so that's what I'm sticking with. I understand the whole hours and hours and rubs etc.

Have you decided if you can, in fact, meet us? If I cross my fingers will that help?

It was a pleasure! I wish we were going to Sea World, or better yet Discovery Cove. Jasmine and I did this in 2002 and I would love to do it again, but it is pricey:confused3

Yeah, we definately don't MAKE BBQ we have a BBQ:lmao: and you;re right, it's slappin a piece of meat on the grill.....it's the cold up here...gets to our brains:laughing:

Brings a smile to my face just thinking of taunting the children...and I start first thing in the morning....really why wait:confused3

I only get MM, Peg's taking Snow with her and Geodoc is working....Peg has quite the life doesn't she:lmao: Jasmine and Thomas can't wait for MM to come for a few days, their "band" isn't the same without her:cool2:

Well, it IS something akin to a morning cup of coffee isn't it? :surfweb:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Girl, yer nuts!!!

I know you may find this hard to believe, but I have been told this once or twice:lmao:

Well, it IS something akin to a morning cup of coffee isn't it? :surfweb:

Yes it is!! ...and in Disney that morning cup of coffee may have some Bailey's Irish Cream in it:rolleyes1 Notice how I go straight for the alcohol

In Canada BBQ is a verb???....who's Peg trying to impress:lmao: She has a hard time admitting when she's wrong, we've tried to get her help.....well you know:rotfl:

Happy Canada Day!!!!!:flower3:

We are off the our friends for a wonderful day by the pool, ordering in KFC for dinner (yum) and generally enjoying each others company!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe and enjoyable Canada Day

Happy Canada Day to you too! We are all really sick, so we are stuck inside on this lovely day!! We may go drive to the Forks and park and watch the fireworks from the car, if we are feeling up to it! Enjoy your day everyone!!
