Comfy beds....BWPPI or Anaheim DI&S.....and parking

I really need a bed that is not rock hard. Firm with a pillowtop is fine. I have read that BWPPI will be doing room upgrades once the breakfast area is complete, but if I don't get a renovated room, I don't want to be stuck sleeping on a rock. The DI&S is a fair bit cheaper but the BWPPI has a king a pullout sofa for DD and the DI&S has 2 queens.
Which has the better parking situation? We will have a rental but will only be using the car for transportation to and from the airport.

I hate to break it to you, but BWPPI beds are rock hard. I love a softer bed so it's not great to be on a hard bed, but I'm willing to do it to be that close and the continental breakfast is great too. Good news is, I'm so exhausted from all the walking all day that I'll still fall asleep on those hard beds. I haven't stayed at the other hotel, so I have no comments there. Parking at BWPPI is fine.

I have only stayed at BWPPI, and I don't recall the beds being too extreme one way or the other (I like a soft bed as well and ALL hotel beds are harder than mine at home). BWPPI does charge $10/day for parking, so depending how long you're going for, the rental car + parking charge + gas + general hassle may mean it could be cheaper/easier to take some other form of airport transportation (also depends on what airport you're flying to and from). Some people have said that it can be hard to find a decent space at BWPPI and that it can be really tight, but we've never had that problem.

We have stayed in the King + Sofa bed, but now that my daughters are older (11) we really prefer to get the rooms with two beds. Sofa bed isn't great, but for a small child would be perfectly fine.

I am such a huge advocate of the short distance that BWPPI provides and free breakfast. I would recommend it, but again - I haven't stayed at DI&S.

DI&S was rock hard last nov. I am planing on bringing my own pillow to BWPPI just in case and might just buy a pillow top pad or something. I do not want rock hard beds again its so annoying.

Desert Inn and Suites has refurbished all their rooms. They were redoing the driveway when we were there in May. The beds did not seem too hard to me. The breakfast is only so-so, but it has improved. As far as parking goes, there is also a fee, but they will park your car for you, so parking is not so much an issue. They have varying room types including some with pullout couches.

Last we stayed at Desert Inn the beds were hard. I plan to bring an egg crate or other mattress topper with me when I go in May. Even with this extra expense, I couldn't beat the price at DI&S.

I also stayed at the DI&S in May while they were redoing their driveway. I do not like hard beds (I wish I still had my waterbed, haha!) and I thought their beds were fine. Firm, but definitely not hard. I think they have replaced them since a lot of people stayed there. Maybe it is just luck of the draw? I don't know, but ours was not hard. I liked the motel just fine. One of the biggest vanities and fridges I have had in a motel.

Another vote that the DI&S beds are *hard*. Like, so hard, I considered sleeping on the floor. And then bought an air mattress for my next stay there (which never happened).

I stayed at DI&S last November and had rock hard beds, the worst I've ever slept on. That room was in the very front of the hotel. We stayed again just this last February and had a room in the back on the same floor and the bed was perfect. I don't think I'm crazy, they were definitely different beds. Not sure if they changed them inbetween those few months or what...

and am thinking of getting it for our dec trip. At least if we get there and they have hard beds a bwppi it can help with our sleep. Last year we woke up in pain at DI&S.

I've stayed at both places. We just stayed at BWPPI last month. Keeping in mind that I generally prefer firm beds, I did not find either place to have hard beds. Our last stay at DI&S was in 2009. We had a 4-queen suite and no one complained about the beds. At BWPPI we had a 2-queen, sofa bed suite. I found the queen to be very comfortable, as did my DH and DS20. DS17 slept on the sofa bed and he said it was fine, as far as sofa beds go. Parking at BWPPI is fine, as long as you reserve a space ahead of time. If you make your reservation online, follow up with a phone call and ask them to add a space to your reservation. The parking at DI&S has never been great. We always got there early and got one of the covered spaces. I've seen people having to park on the ramp leading to the underground parking. I would rather park myself and take the keys rather than use valet and have my car moved around so they can get others out. Whenever we park at one of the Harbor hotels, we generally don't move our car again until it's time to leave. We walk everywhere we need to go so we don't have to worry about finding a space late at night.

Thanks for your input. I think I will go with BWPPI. I read in an online review that they will be renovating the rooms in the new year. Maybe they will have nicer beds. As for the parking... maybe we will go with DRE since I have no shopping to do this time. Less hassle for me.

Hi Susie63, I have never stayed at BWPPI or DI & S. I stick with Candy Cane and one reason is their super duper soft beds, they are wonderful. I will be interested to hear about the BWPPPI. I have thought about staying there when rates were cheaper than CCI. I wish you a wonderful trip
