Just wondering if anyone has stayed at Comfort Suites Main Gate East lately. If so-how was it? clean? bugs? Proximity to Old Town a problem? I have read conflicting reviews on tripadvisor and other sites. I'm just looking for some honest DIS reviews.

Our last trip to Orlando was the fourth time we've stayed at the Comfort Suites Maingate East since 2003. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, the staff are outstanding and the free breakfast each morning is a plus. Location is excellent - only a few minutes from Disney. Upon check-in there was a welcome basket of goodies and a note welcoming us back to the hotel - a nice touch. One afternoon after returning to the hotel to rest, we were greeted by a lovely towel animal that housekeeping had left for us. Our only complaint would be the slow elevators.

We have also stayed on-site at Walt Disney World and we much prefer the Comfort Suites to Disney with much bigger rooms and a price that is quite a bit less than what Disney charges.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, clean hotel when visiting the Orlando area.

We are looking forward to returning in October and in fact had our room booked since January. :thumbsup2

I also would recommend staying there,I've stayed there like 3 times without a bad thing to say about it,the breakfast area is huge with plenty of variety. The hotel itself is tucked back away from 192 so it feels calmer. The pool area is great. The hotel itself feels new and clean. It is next to Old Town, but we've never had any problems, this area in 192 is not as bad as if you go a bit east past 535.East of that intersection the area gets a bit more run down.Trust me that the hotel is a great deal for the price they usually charge!!

Here's a copy of my post from the review sub-board. I just stayed there last
month.

I normally shy away from the Choice Hotel chain but this was a last minute trip, I was desperate and the reviews from the DIS were good. And it met my "hot spots": interior corridors, no pets allowed and non smoking rooms available.

This property is adjacent to Old Town. I had a two queen bed suite. The refrigerator was a nice sized dorm style fridge and the microwave appeared clean. Only issue with the microwave is that it is in a top cabinet over the counter area and being vertically challenged at under five feet tall it would have been a pain for me to use it. Bathroom was large and clean. Plenty of soap, shampoo, etc in bathroom.

The room, as promised on the DIS, was clean and in good repair. I travel with my lysol and unlike some hotels where I have felt the need to empty the whole can--I just touched on the noraml stuff (remotes, phones, etc). My only issue: The a/c unit blew the curtains away from the window when it was blowing. Tossed an extra pillow onto the ledge and that problem was solved.

Breakfast: both days: donuts, mini pastry, cereal, apples, oranges, bananas, packets of instant oatmeal and grits, regular waffles, Mickey head waffles and CHOCOLATE Mickey head waffles. On the hot buffet: Sat: scrambled eggs, sausage, grits. Sunday: hard boiled eggs, oatmeal and sausage gravy for biscuits. Only issue: cups for juice were small--about two swallows. We just took the water cups (paper) from our room to use.

Staff: Absolutely on par with Disney service!!!!!!!! From the front desk to security to the porter. Nice people, great attitudes and absolutely wonderful.

Nearby: Old Town. Saturday night was the famous car cruise. Arrived back from WDW to see cars EVERYWHERE---in the grass, on medians, anywhere there was space!!! Was concerned that the parking lot at the hotel would be full---no worries. They must patrol the lot really well, plenty of parking. No noise from Old Town crept into the room. Also--was poolside (our window looked directly to the pool) and did not hear any noise from the pool either.

Pirates Cove mini golf: Directly in front of hotel. Let DGS play both courses. They have a special play again rate of $4.00 for the second course.

I would stay here again but think the $75.00 per night I paid was the limit for price. I would not pay more for this property.
