Has anybody stayed here?

Apparently was called comfort inn maingate up until recently when the name was changed to Stanford inn.

The kids suites look really cool and are less than $100 per night and they also provide a free hot breakfast. It's a little ways down S. Harbor but my kids are 14 and 11 so they are well able to walk.

I'm still wondering about the ART though. It would be nice to have that option if we don't want to walk, which would probably happen occasionally. Does it stop close by? How often does it come by?

Any reviews and thoughts on this hotel?

We stayed there two nights and checked out. It's ok. Old and didn't feel ultra clean. Pool was too dirty to let kids swim in at the time. Super nice breakfast.

Stayed there a couple times, not for many years now. It's not a distance you want to walk over and over, especially with all the park walking. ART stop was at hotel next door. Toy Story lot wasn't there last time we stayed but I would choose tram from there over ART. Breakfast was decent. Pool is parking lot pool, never bothered to check it out. Regular room had pretty thin walls. Was ok. Kid suite was nice for space and separation. Not one of my favorite places. Wouldn't stay again now that we have tried it out twice.

We've stayed there twice recently and have had really good experiences! Not sure if prior posters have stayed there since the renovation, but it's much improved. My brother stayed there a couple years ago and wasn't impressed.
We have had really clean rooms with a micro/fridge and the breakfast is the best selection we've had at any hotel we've ever stayed at.
It is a bit of a walk to the park but someone else mentioned, the Toy Story tram is close and you can walk there and ride the tram for free.

We stayed last year while it was still comfort inn. It wasn't bad and actually pretty good for a budget motel. We weren't looking for anything fancy. The walk to DL in the morning was ok, a bit long but we took ART back. The fridge really came in handy.

Hmmm interesting....how far is the walk to the toy story lot?....I was considering desert palm but If we stayed here it would almost pay for our AP Upgrade

Most of the TA reviews since it has been refurb are pretty great. I think I might just give it a go. The walk is about 20 mins (have stayed in the ramada next door to it once) it it's an easy walk. Aside from that, the cost of ART tickets, if we can't be bothered walking, will be more than offset by a free substantial breakfast - one that will actually taste good, be nutritious and fill us up for a good part if the day!!

The rooms look pretty nice and we are after a suite with a separate kids room, their own TV etc. our kids are big so we won't need to come back for naps or anything and will mostly just use it for sleeping, so the distance should be ok for us because we're only doing it once a day.

I'm actually excited to try it out. I mean, a suite with 2 separate rooms, 2 bathrooms and a hot breakfast for under $100 per night is great at the moment. Hotel prices right now are the most expensive I have ever seen actually!!!

Yep I have decided this will be where we stay also...I looked on trip advisor and they all seemed to be pretty good....and were getting APs with the money we save yaaay

Yay for you!!!!

When are you going? We are going in November. If you go before that, please report back and let me know what you thought. I'm booking it tomorrow. Soooo excited!!!

Well ours wont be til next summer so you will have to let me know about it!!

We stayed there last month for a VERY last minute trip during the 4th of July week. The room was clean and the bathroom was REALLY nice. We liked the big fridge too. The breakfast is better than most continentals, but I was really disappointed with the eggs; I like to eat protein in the morning and they were very dry. Ultimately, the walk was too long (we definitely like to stay within walking distance and do naps) so for that reason we won't stay again, but I think it's a GREAT value if the distance isn't an issue for you.

Thanks for that....I knew it would be bit of a walk so we will prob get ART tickets.....some people have also said its close to the Toy Story Lot where you can get the free shuttle do you know anything about that?

We are here now (checked in Sunday night). I was a little apprehensive about the mixed reviews, but since every dollar not spent on a hotel can be spent at the parks, I decided to give it a try.

I got an unbeatable rate through booking.com, and for what we paid, I did not come in expecting aesthetic beauty. Just looking for clean, comfortable and the free breakfast is a bonus. I am not disappointed. Our room is very clean (except the carpet, but that seems to be the reality of the more budget friendly hotels). The staff is super friendly and helpful, breakfast was kept pretty well stocked right up til closing time, This morning we had to wait a couple of minutes for a table, but no wait yesterday.

As for transportation, we have walked to Toy Story and back both days. I haven't thought to time the walk, but of the four trips only time it felt too far was last night. We closed the parks, and got back around 12:15. DH had to piggyback DS9, DD7 rode in the stroller and DS2 in the wrap. Plus all our gear felt like a long hike. Tonight though we were back earlier and everybody wasn't so tired, it didn't seem too bad.

I'm actually really excited to be checking this place out in a few months. Hope the jacuzzi is good :)
