Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista...$29.00nt

I don't know if I believe this, but I booked a room on the $29 rate for 10/24. When I checked Hotel Kingdom, their rate was higher, so I did the 'rate champion' thing. They came back and told me that Comfort Inn had an error on their website and they would not honor the rate.

Seems fishy. I even asked Comfort Inn if I could get those rates for 11/1 and 11/2, and they just said that the rates were higher for those dates- not anything about an error.

That travelzoo rate was through August 6th. Also, just got back and had no problems with the 29.00 rate I got through travelzoo. Nothing fishy there! Hotel was great and the staff were very nice.

anything about the hotel?

pools, location, breakfast, rooms?

They had 2 pools by each set of two buildings. We only used the one by our building so I can't say a whole lot about the other one. Both pools look identical, plenty of room to swim and lounge around. They hotel provides beach towels at the pool.
The hotel location I thought was great. Palm Parkway is one traffic light past the entrance to Downtown Disney. The hotel is like 2 blocks after you turn onto Palm Parkway. They had a security guard that checks everyone entering the hotel. There are several hotels in the area and lots of restaurants.
As for the breakfast, we never ate breakfast there. We were going to the morning we left but there was a line all the way out to the lobby, so I said forget it. We did eat dinner there 2 nights. It was buffet style and was ok for the money. It was much cheaper for us to eat there because my kids got to eat for free.
Our room was about the same as other Comfort Inn hotels. Had two beds, coffeemaker, fridge, microwave, iron, ironing board, hairdryer. It was very clean and they cleaned our room each day.
I had no problems with the room. Our room was facing the parking lot, that was a plus. If you have a room facing the pool you have I-4 traffic going by all day and night.
They had a really nice fenced in playground too. My kids loved it.
The gift shop prices were pretty much the same as the bargain gift shops we went to down the street. I figured the hotel shop would be highly priced, but they were the same as others.
Overall, I really liked this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Much better location than 192.

We have stayed at Comfort Inn-LBV several times when we arrived late at night. It's easy to get to and get out of and very close to WDW.

how far ahead should I make the reservtions and should I try the site or call. We are going back again next April (04) and was wondering if I should check now?

Ohiomommy,
Thanks for the update and details!!

I booked during the special for our first night and glad to hear it is nice. I was really freaking out so you have calmed me quite a bit.

It really sounds pretty nice especially for $29.00!

The location sounds excellent too. We've passed by there several times on our way out of WDW and that's really close!

I just returned from the Comfort Inn LBV. I can't say I would recommed this hotel. There were some good things but overall it was not worth it.

Good:

The front desk staff was very pleasant at check in. The breakfast was pretty good. It is truly a deluxe continental. They had cereal, oatmeal, mini bagels and donuts, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, milk, and toast. The shuttle goes to all orlando parks and the hotel is close to disney.

Bad:

The shuttles were always overly full. Sometimes a second bus was called but most times you were left to fend for yourself. This is understandable the first day but when it happens everyday afterwards for the entire week it is a little annoying. I was pretty disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. The bedspread was ripped, there was black mold all over the shower, a dead insect at the top of the shower (which stayed there all week since I couldn't reach it), mold all over the ceiling, dirty towels, no iron or ironing board and the sheets were only changed once I called to request it. I wasn't expecting the top of the line but at the very minimum I expected the room to be clean. They did finally bring an ironing board and it was ripped, stained and pretty much unusable. I spoke to others on the shuttle and it seemed that many were having problems getting their sheets changed also. I don't mind if the hotel is trying to conserve water but it would nice if they inform you that you have to call if you want the sheets changed.

I stayed at the CILBV for 2 nights in 4/99 - so I imagine it has been renovated since then. They had the kidsuites then, but regular rooms didn't even have an alarm clock! At that time, the room was rather dreary, though clean. It was ok for the 2 nights we were there (we drove to the parks), but I have since gotten spoiled by onsite hotels.

the $29 is still available - I've just booked it on the comfort inn website given on the link earlier on this thread. You have to click on the 'orlan-dough' icon on special/promotions. I've got the $29 rate each night from 12/6 to 12/13 and for 12/18 - goes up to $40 something for 12/19.
I don't know if I've done the right thing, but have taken this offer up rather than 5 nights $20.03 and 3 nights $99 at dtd courtyard by marriot.
Any opinions and anyone wanting 12/7 to 12/11 at dtd cbym let me know!

janedo - if you are intent on staying at the CILBV - at least join the Choice Privileges program: http://www3.choicehotels.com/ires/en-us/html/ChoicePrivileges?sid=1d8VM.2TuVR5oEH.3

If you can't find someone else to take your 5 nights at the Courtyard - the difference in price between the hotels, including the non-refundable money you've already paid is $65 plus taxes. So - hang onto the Courtyard reservation for the weekend days - and perhaps join AAA to save $10/night for the 3 weekend nights.

I am not finding that link/rate for 11/1 and 11/2
Can you tell me where you found it?

I've looked and for those dates it comes up as $39. The place to find it is on the comfort inn website - choose special offers and then 'orland-dough' its a special offer including a booklet with 'two for one' meals etc.
