Come to the Dark Side...4 Weekends of Fun with the Force(Updated 11/12)

He looks so sweet and adorable in his uniform. Sounds like it's hotter by you than by us. Though my swimming pool water feels like bath water.

Thank you! He's so proud of his uniform. He wanted to wear it to school again yesterday but I told him no because it wasn't a pack meet day or a special day. He did get to wear it today though because they were doing a special ceremony in honor of 9/11. If I remember right they said they were going to pull all the Cub Scouts to the side so he'd be sanding with his Pack/Den instead of his class. He couldn't wait. I did have to explain a little bit about what today is but I know he'll have more questions come this afternoon.

Of course after I said how hot our weather is it's cooled off considerably!! Today it's 75. Our complex's pool is always cold!! I think it's because it's in the shade!! They really need to cute back some of the trees.

Sorry I haven't been here. Been busy getting things ready for James and Sarah's birthday party yesterday, Jeremy's first Cub Scout meeting tonight, Girl Scout stuff on Wednesday and we found out we're having another BOY!!! Sarah wasn't too happy with that news but I think she's ok now. Hoping to stay caught up now.

Congratulations on the newest little mousekeeter boy :goodvibes hope you are feeling great!

Yesterday was filled with activity, fun, and tics. Guess we just have to accept it as par for the course.

Our day started with JJ having full body tics that were very strong. We gave him space because if we get too close we could get kicked or hit. I think the excitement of classes resuming and going for blood work at the crack of dawn added stress on him.

He had voice lessons then theater yesterday. The door opened from the room during his lesson and out came he with a beat red face and his teacher looking extremely concerned. It was a throat tic. He couldn't breath. He was walking over to me. All I could envision was him passing out and hitting his head on the wall or floor. So I ran over to him and had him sit down on the ground. As soon as he sat down he began breathing again and his legs began to tic. Once he stopped kicking, he went back into class as if nothing happened and finished his lesson. His teacher said he is quite the trooper.

The exact same thing happened at theater lessons. Since the theater class isn't a private class like the voice lesson, I stayed near him. When I noticed him starting to tic, I took him to a dressing room and he let it all out. Once he was done he joined back in. The rest of the class he was fine.

One more time yesterday, he had this exact same type of ticking occur. It was last night while we were watching Star Wars Episode 1. His face turned beat red and he couldn't breath then it went into leg tics just like earlier.

sorry to hear JJ is still having so many tics, good he is able to work through them and get back to his activities...continued prayers and pixiedust:

Congratulations on the newest little mousekeeter boy :goodvibes hope you are feeling great!

Thank you! I've actually been feeling really good. Morning sickness has basically gone away except for every now and then and when it does show up I take my nausea medicine and it's gone within 20 mins.

Our StayCation begins today and lasts til Oct 1st. So we are looking for things to do locally.

Originally our plans were to head up north to visit family. But it's been cancelled because it would be too much for JJ. We'll be sticking to central Florida.

Wednesday after occupational therapy was the worse day for JJ to date. By evening we were all exhausted with hours of his full body ticking. Grumpy started to pray as I have never seen or hear him pray before. And calmness came over the house and JJ's body. It's been that way since. I am claiming that as answered prayer and know that our worse day is over and things are looking up from here.

However, I grabbed a paper bag as we headed out of the house yesterday in case he hyperventilated. JJ stopped me and to say I don't need that for him. He's all better after his big brother prayed for him. My faith wasn't as strong as he and his brother's and I tucked it to the bottom of my bag...just in case. It wasn't needed.

JJ is such a strong little man to be able to get through the tics and still go back to the classes or to what he was doing before. I'm super proud of him. Of course, I'm still praying that the doctors can come up with the right meds to make the darn tics stop completely. I know that they are scary for both you and for JJ.

Sometimes he felt exhausted afterwards, but for the most part, he said he felt perfectly fine after them.

It's interesting that a pencil out of order in his pencil bucket can feel like the end of the world to him, but not being able to breath doesn't phase him. I'm sure it had to do with our responses to him. We act so unphased and nonchalant about it. Good thing he can't hear our thoughts or feel our heart racing at those times.

Thank you! He's so proud of his uniform. He wanted to wear it to school again yesterday but I told him no because it wasn't a pack meet day or a special day. He did get to wear it today though because they were doing a special ceremony in honor of 9/11. I'm glad he got to wear it again, wish it had been under other circumstances. JJ doesn't know about Patriot's Day. We kept the tv off on Wednesday. Of course, he had horrible tics from late morning through evening when Grumpy prayed.

Our pool is shaded too and makes for a cold pool most of the year. September and end of August are the only times the pool feels good to me.

sorry to hear JJ is still having so many tics, good he is able to work through them and get back to his activities...continued prayers and pixiedust:

We are on the upside now! :) The worse is over.

This acknowledgement is way overdue. Sorry it's taken me so long up upload the pictures. It was her b-day, and she sent out a gift to JJ. Mommy2mrb is a big scrapbooker, is that what it's called, here on the DIS. She made the perfect scrapbook to keep JJ's pictures from SWW 2013! Along with the album and pages she mailed photomats, mounting squares to attach everything and some brads for the stickers. I didn't even know that's what they were called.

Thank you so much, Lisa. I'm sure you could tell by the phone call when JJ got the package, how excited he was. It's a beautiful book. Now you'll just have to give me a step by step tutorial to finish it. :D

Day 6 : Keeping an Eye on the World

I’d like to say that this day began at the crack of dawn, but for my husband his Day 6 began at the stroke of midnight. The lines for Ray Park were growing daily exponentially. After talking to other people who were doing the same thing, they all felt like 12:30 would be a good time to get there. He was able to get in a little power nap before heading back to DHS.

There was only one autograph session for Ray Park, 1:45. As soon as dh had FP and wristband in hand, he was heading back to the resort to sleep. We took our time getting ready. It wasn’t until my cell phone rang that we found out one of JJ’s friends was at DHS that we stepped it up a little and headed off to DHS to meet up with them for lunch.

How do you feel about the streetmosphere characters at DHS? I never know how to answer them, and have a miserable time trying to play along. That’s where being the eye behind the camera pays off. It puts me in my comfort zone. Dh thinks these characters are hysterical. He loves their quick wit. To JJ, they are like a magnet, especially the police man character. He’s one of JJ’s favorite DHS characters. He ranks right up there with Chewbacca. Ok, maybe not as high, but on the fun factor, he’s somewhere close by.

Every time JJ sees him, he makes a beeline to him to ask if there’s been any monkey business. The two of them can talk up a storm. JJ gets sucked right into it. This time something very special happened. The policeman reached into his pocket and came out holding the world. He asked JJ if he’d keep an eye on the world for him. Wow! JJ’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. I expected to hear a full out, “yes!!”. But instead there was a full out, “indeed!!”. Indeed?! Where’d he get that one? This was about to become his new catch phrase.

We headed towards Star Tours to meet JJ’s friend. He was about to ride it for a second time and I got a text to go inside the restaurant next door and they’d meet us after their ride. I never knew there were “sinks” and a portrait painting area in this restaurant. Did you?

I got a grilled vegetable sandwich. I really liked it. It ranks up there as one of my favorite sandwiches at Disney.
Our friends were going to see An Ewok’s Tale. They got in line. We did too, but stood there to chat, not to wait in line. JJ’s friend has autism and it was really difficult for him to wait in the close quarters of the queue. The heat was making him itchy.

I took the boys over to the shade out of the queue to wait. As we were waiting the clone troopers came out.

Once they were finished, I took them back into the shade as the rest of our party melted in the sun. Somehow I got the better end of this. Us being where we were and everyone else of our party elsewhere was a bit difficult. JJ’s friend had to keep pacing. Where we were away from everyone, there was plenty of room for him to pace and stay calm. But it was soon time for the Ray Park autograph so we met up back to leave them all at An Ewok’s Tale and us to head to Echo Lake.

We got as far as Writer’s stop. JJ was complaining he didn’t feel well and was too hot. Writer’s stop pis a perfect place to stop and cool down. Right by one of the registers, there is an air vent that is super strong. We stood under that for a bit and drank some water. He was feeling great in no time. We hung out here until the last minute. As we were getting ready to leave, here came our friends. They only had five more minutes to wait for the show. And they were walking this way. My friend was upset, her son as well. I stepped outside and brought them in.

I asked what happened. It was practically show time. Her son had started to melt down when they asked everyone to move up and together in line. All that time waiting. All the excitement to see the show. And here they were in Writer’s Stop trying to get JJ’s friend to calm down from a meltdown. It really is such a shame that something can’t be done about the queue into the Premiere Theater. I’ve seen so many people get so close to show time and have to back out. My heart sank for them. They not only Star Wars fans, but huge Harry Potter fans as well. That was going to be their one and only attempt to any shows at the Premiere Theater. It was going to have to be a place they skip all of SWW.

Recently, we had eaten lunch at the Tomorrowland Terrace. There was air conditioning pumped into that outdoor seating area and you could really feel it. We were comfortable the whole time we ate. If only they could pump in some type of air conditioning to that queue at the Premiere Theater. That would be one good way to solve the problem.

We left them at Writer’s Stop and headed to Echo Lake for the M&G. The whole time JJ was worried about his friend. You can see the pictures aren’t taken with the same energy and excitement he had for the other M&Gs. At one point, I said to JJ that it is ok to smile.

Somewhere along the way we saw Ahsoka. She may had been coming or going from a Padawan Mind Challenge?

JJ’s friend wasn’t able to stay at SWW. It was too difficult for him. The character queues were too confusing and upsetting for him. So they went over to the MK, where they had a fantastic rest of the day and stayed almost til park close.

We headed to Darth’s Mall to cool off. We saw C3PO and R2D2 and the Rancor.

Remember how JJ said he would never “bug” David or Ashley? Well that was short lived. He was so excited when he saw David that he ran up to him and told him all about how he dressed like a storm trooper the day before and how everyone wanted pictures with him, and how tiring it was, and how he knows what it feels like to be famous now. He was talking a million miles a minute, said his peace and turned to walk away. Leaving David and another couple he was talking to laughing and shaking their heads. I think somewhere in there too, he slipped David an autographed baseball picture of himself from Buddy Ball. So in a nut shell, he bugged him to tell him he won’t but him anymore.

Sometime around 4pm we got in line for the 5pm Visit to the Maul show.

It was a fun show as it was in previous years. Every time we see this show, Darth Maul becomes less and less scary when watching Episode 1.

After the show, we hung out at the Backlot Express. There weren’t many people inside. JJ had dinner (exact same repeat of lunch). We were still full from lunch.

He asked if he could wear his costume again and try to see characters this time. His costume was in the car. Right away he wanted out of his jedi costume. So at a bathroom on the way out, he took off his custome top and slipped on a tshirt. We headed out to the car. As soon as we got to the car, these three different “hot rod” cars pulled up at different spots near our car. We assumed these guys were together, but they didn’t speak to each other. We felt like they were watching us and they were up to no good. JJ’s costume was in the trunk. So we got it out and he slipped into it. We made sure the car was locked and went back to the park. Contemplating if we should mention the suspicious activity of the guys in these three cars? Then it hit me. Maybe they weren’t just hot rodding in the parking lot. Maybe THEY were making sure that there wasn’t any funny business going on?

This time, we headed straight back to the character areas before too many people could ask him to pose with them.

Continued....

...and the rest of Day 6

A little earlier, JJ saw Melissa, one of the cm who was particularly helpful last year during SWW. You would have thought she was an attraction herself. He was so happy to see her, he forgot about the other characters. She suggested places for him to stand for them to better see him.

This had been an exciting day. He was asked to keep his eye on the world, met up with a friend and saw an old friend, got and autograph, gave an autograph, saw a show, M&G with a whole bunch of characters, but the best part of the day was yet to come.

JJ was finished after meeting the characters. He didn’t want to stay for Hoopla. So we headed out. As we were passing the Idol auditioning location, JJ met some new friends, the Lady Rogues. This fan group was so much fun. JJ had a blast cosplaying with them. I was laughing so hard I could barely see out of the camera to take pictures. The saddest part of it all, was that I thought they were ewoks. JJ and my husband knew immediately that they were fighters. And they kept let me go on talking about ewoks. Sorry ladies. I know the error of my ways.

Whew! That was a lot of fun! And on this happy note, our SWW #6 was finished.

Oh how fun Michelle! I love how JJ went to David and explained and gave him an autographed picture. That was a great gesture on JJ's part. He wouldn't want David to think he didn't like him anymore.:goodvibes I am sorry to hear abot his friend but at least his friend had a fun day anyway.

thank you for sharing the photos of JJ and the album, when I saw the paper I knew I had to make it for him! you got all the terminology correct, easy to put it all together, adhere the photo to the mats, then onto the paper, then add the stickers, etc. hope he enjoys putting the finishing touches!

happy to hear he is doing better and that Grumpy's prayers are helping his little brother :goodvibes so touching!

wow what a day at SSW! sorry his friend had a tough day with the lines and crowds. love seeing all the fun JJ was having though!

Thank you! I've actually been feeling really good. Morning sickness has basically gone away except for every now and then and when it does show up I take my nausea medicine and it's gone within 20 mins.

great you are feeling so well! morning sickness is not fun :faint: I had it for 4 1/2 months pretty much 24 hours a day. hope you continue to have a healthy pregnancy!

OMGosh, Michelle!! I can't believe how amazing this was for JJ!!

I'm sitting here totally crying happy tears reading about all his adventures!! :lovestruc

Him walking in the parade is the best part, hands down. As you were describing this I was a total puddle.

I'm glad he got to wear it again, wish it had been under other circumstances. JJ doesn't know about Patriot's Day. We kept the tv off on Wednesday. Of course, he had horrible tics from late morning through evening when Grumpy prayed.

Ahh that was sweet of Grumpy to pray for JJ. I'm sure it did have a lot to do with how he felt afterwards. Glad you didn't need the bag.

I agree, wish it was for a better reason that he got to wear it again. To be honest I didn't realize that they had named Sept. 11 to Patriot's Day. I try not to subject the kids to that too much but when the whole school was brought out to the front of the school to say the Pledge of Allegiance together then questions are bound to happen. I thought it was great though that the Cub Scouts were all pulled to the side and got to start the pledge for the whole school!! Sarah was so proud of her big brother as he was standing there with the other boys. My TV was also off most of the day since I wasn't home much that day and the time I was home was spent doing things with the Disney Channel on.

I think this year is the year we've spent the most time in the pool. The kids enjoyed it and I'm hoping to do it again next year. Now that they are in school I've been working on our routine and the pool just hasn't made the cut.

What a fun update! You guys did have a lot of pixie dust happen during the weekends! Love the pictures of JJ at the M&G's!

great you are feeling so well! morning sickness is not fun :faint: I had it for 4 1/2 months pretty much 24 hours a day. hope you continue to have a healthy pregnancy!

I was actually almost hospitalized when I was pregnant with Sarah. Lost over 10 pounds in 5 days and I'd drink a sip of water and lose a water bottle worth's. It wasn't good. The Dr. told me if I didn't keep anything down in the next 24 hours she was admitting me. I guess that was all the incentive I needed. I couldn't be hospitalized when I had a 1 year old at home!!

Yes, it was fun! JJ is such a character sometimes. SWW wasn't for his friend, but he really enjoyed the MK. Last night they went to the Villian party. I'm anxious to hear how his friend liked it. Today he's playing baseball in a Special Olympics game.

Thank you so much for thinking of him. Now the hard part will be to decide which pictures? I took thousands of pictures. He'll have to pick his favorite.

Yesterday was another really good day. In fact, we actually got to go to a buffet and eat there. The end of the July was the last time before that he was able to eat at a restaurant. The whole month of August we had to get things to go. Even at the Mustang Show weekend, we started out at the PM and ended up having to get the food boxed and ate the rest in the room.

Thanks, Camille. SWWs were such an amazing time for our family. It's been very touching to go back and see the pictures and write the TR.

One thing good about JJ's problems over the summer; it's brought the boys closer together.

Morning sickness is no fun, especially went it lasts all day too. I had all day morning sickness with Grumpy, very little with JJ. Continued prayers for your pregnancy.

Love the power of prayer! What a great testimony!!

Love all of the pictures! Em did not like the female bounty hunters at all! Aurra Sing photobombed her picture and she is still not over it. ;).

Enjoy your staycation!!!

That is great they got closer. I love it when I see mine all playing together nicely and having fun. Makes me sad when they fight and hit.

Now I have to share some news! We may be going to WDW next summer!!! It would be in June though if we go. DH and I were talking tonight about our 10th anniversary (May) again since yesterday it had been 10 years since we first met and he said he was thinking about how it would be fun to take a couple weeks and drive cross country with the kids (make a stop here and there on the way and back) and go to WDW!!!! Yes the driving part scares me because the longest car rides we've done so far are just to Disneyland and Oregon both are between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 hours depending on traffic and how many stops we have to make. So if anyone has done the drive from California to Florida with young kids and has any tips please let me know!!

Absolutely. Thanks.

That's too bad she doesn't like them and got photobombed.

We watched Episodes 1 and 2 over a couple days last week. I paid particular attention to the female bounty hunters.

Grumpy's patience level has increased tremendously.

Woohoo! If you time it for one of the first 2 weekends in June, you should hit SWW!

I think a couple weeks vacation would be great fun. Drive?! You are much braver than me. My husband's family did that drive when the kids were little. They camped all along the way.

I sent you a pm this morning.

Wow!!! What a great day! And I am SO jealous!! Zam Wesell is, for a reason I can't explain or comprehend, my absolute favorite minor character. I think it's the purple! Haha.

Did you ever post about that salad you had in... MK I think it was? I'm pretty sure it was your report that you mentioned the best salad ever. Not sure if I missed it, or if you haven't posted about it yet. Or if I'm just confused! Haha.

We're talking about leaving the day after the kids get out of school. (They can't miss the first 3 days or last 10 days of school or else they lose their spot for the following year.) I guess I need to double check that date. Last year it was around June 12 if I remember right. He made the comment about spending 5 days in WDW (I want a full 7 if not more) and not going to the parks on the weekend unless there was something special going on and I mentioned depending on when we go and if they were going on there is SWW. He seemed interested so now to double check dates and talk to him more. But I know I need to do some research first because he likes to know all the logistics.

I saw and responded. Thank you!

Receiving the scrapbook had JJ bouncing off the walls. He was so excited and hugged it to pieces. Lisa did a fantastic job and we appreciate her support and encouragement.

No, I don't think I posted a picture of the salad. It's the Citrus Shrimp with Mandarin Dressing. I could sure go for that again. I think I saw the same salad at the Yak and Yeti counter service restaurant at AK.

I do not think that I could tolerate a cross country trip. That is too much togetherness in too small of a space. Now when the kids were little I would have loved doing it. :confused3 No clue what changed it for me.
