Come to Disneyland for your birthday - you can use your Fun Card to upgrade tickets

Since the guys said this couldn't be done at WDW, I just wanted to clarify and pass this on, since it's different for Disnyeland. Ian (my adorable and ever-patient husband) did this for his birthday. We're planning on doing it for Zoe for her birthday, too!

If you have tickets and opt for the fun card, you can use it to upgrade your ticket media. That means upgrading the number of days or even your annual pass! He did the second option.

Just thought that advice might help someone out!

You actually can upgrade the tickets at WDW. Per the FAQ on Disney's site:

Q: Can I upgrade my free birthday ticket to another ticket type?

A: Yes, the free birthday ticket may be upgraded to another ticket type on your birthday. However the celebrant is responsible for the incremental cost and the new ticket may only be used by the celebrant. The 1-day Magic Your Way ticket good for 12 months (an option for certain passholders and multi-day ticket holders) may not be upgraded

What the crew said is actually correct. You can't use the $75 gift card to purchase ticket media. But if your birthday is the first day you are there you can upgrade the ticket and pay the difference.

I love how confusing these Disney promotions can be.

Confusing, is true.

Since, the phrase "ticket media" legally refers to all forms of admission media - including Annual Passes, it's even more confusing for folks.

If you make a blanket statement that you "cannot use it to purchase ticket media", you would be incorrect, as upgrading your pass is a form of purchasing ticket media.

Therefore, a minor correction was appropriately in order for clarification.
