Come on, 'fess up: You don't get to the parks at opening either.

Am I the only one? We try, but sleep prevails and we usually don't get to the parks until 30 minutes to an hour after opening. Have done this in both Septembr and June, and you know what, we still had fun!

So, who else is with me?

Actually, we do open the place, but we hope that folks like yourself are in the majority, starting tomorrow!

I like being able to get up when I get up on vacation :sunny: - so we close the parks down rather than open them up!

Nope! I am a morning person. We get to the parks before they open. We usually leave the park by 11 (which is when "you folks" are arriving in droves!) and take a midday break and return to a park in the late afternoon.

Nopers!

We're early birds. I'd so much rather get in and beat the crowds, especially when its busy. Like Linda R, I like to plan mid-day breaks. More so in Peak season then on off.

My son wakes us at 6am everyday, so we are usually on the first bus or boat of the day!

I'm usually up on workdays by 4:45am, so sleeping until 6am is a pleasure!

The only trip that we slept in (some!) was when it was just DW and me on a long romantic weekend at the AKL.

Early birds, here! We love to get their early, open the park, get our Fastpasses, ride some rides - the contrast between the hour after opening and the hour before lunch is amazing!

'Course, we've also shut down the park . . . :thumbsup2 !

Heck yeah - I'm at the park at opening every day. I drag my family out to be there at opening. Especially at Magic Kingdom - I LOVE the welcome party at opening.

Animal Kingdom has a pretty good one too.

If DD wakes up early, we're there early. If not, then we get there when we get there. We've never had to wait in terrible lines either way and the whole day is more fun if DD has had her sleep. :)

We do the same thing.

I am not a morning person. . . except on vacation! I was shocked by how much we could get done when we arrived at park opening. I am now a faithful observer of arriving before park opening.

I try to sleep in, but it's impossible. Way too excited :hyper: and just want to get going. I am sooo not a morning person--but at Disney I am--just can't help it. Dh and I usually open and close parks, do early entry at one park, then emh at another. It can get to be a little nutsy, and we are beat by vacations end, but we'll sleep when we get home :)

We open the parks and leave by 11:00 am to spend the rest of the day by the pool. The evening is dedicated to watching fireworks either in the park or in our room. :thumbsup2

I'll admit it, we never making opening for anything. I am not a morning person, hubby is a bit more then me, but getting somewhere before 10 or 11am just isn't my idea of fun. So when we are there in August we might make opening one day, but I won't even hold my breath on that one. We're far more likely to close the park out then be there at opening.

Our first trip we opened the park almost every day. One of the days we went to MK we were there for the opening and it changed our minds. Maybe it was a fluke, but I felt like I was going to be stampeded. We were shoved from every direction. We did discover most people wanted to hop the Monorail, so we headed for the boat. Once we got on there it was so much calmer. The day we were there for AK opening we were shoved a lot too. We got in lines for characters and this one woman kept shoving to try to get her kids in front of ours. Between those two park openings we decided we would wait the 30 minutes or so and have never regretted it.
I will say I am the type of doesn't step foot in our local Wal-Mart on a weekend. I get panicky feeling just thinking about it. Too many people, and too many many rude people. I have had bruises on me from the cart rammers to prove how rude and oblivious they can be.

Early birds here. We are up by 6:30am & out no later than 8am.

Always at park opening & usually there til park close.

We get so much done in the first few hours of the day we wouldn't dream of sleeping in :mickeyjum (no pun intended!).

I always plan to open the parks, but it never happens...which is alright by me! I'm a night owl anyway and if I got up early I'd be a cranky one by the end of the day.

I notice you live in Plano! Always nice to meet a fellow Dishead in this part of the world! We should plan a get together!

On our past trip we had every intention of getting up early--but between exhasuted children (and parents) who couldn't manage to get up and the kids taking forever to get ready, we were lucky to get to the parks an hour after opening. The first couple of days I felt a little frantic about this, but I realized we were having a great time anyway, so it really didn't much matter. Of course we went during a slow period so that probably saved us from running into big lines later in the day.

We were pretty much there within 5-10 minutes of opening every day if not before.
The difference in crowd levels right at opening vs later say 11 or so is amazing.
