Nice shots! :thumbsup2 I like the waves where you can see all the individual splashes of water! And it DOES look cold!

Nice pictures. I'm hoping that I can get some extra time to myself on my next vacation in April and head down to Falmouth/Woods Hole for a photo shoot. Though I do have to build a deck first.

This is one of the things I miss most about not living near the water anylonger. Heading down to the beaches. I usually get down to the Cape a few times a month, but its really never a great time of day for getting good light and more often than not I have the kids with me which makes it ever that much harder for photo ops like this.

Thanks for sharing!!

You look like you could be in my neck of the woods...where were these taken?

I like to do seasonal photo shoots at the beach along with sunrise sunset pictures. I just hop on my bike and throw on my photo backpack and I can be at any of the Falmouth beaches or Wood's Hole in minutes. :cool1:
I'd love to have some company sometime....my kids just shake their heads when I grab my camera and go.

Obviously I can't answer for Pea-n-Me, but I'm in Burlington now, but grew up in Wareham/Onset. Lived there for 25+ years. My parents and a lot of other family are still down there so I try to get down there a lot myself. When I lived at my parents house I would always go out with my camera to take pics. I used to take a lot of Canal pics. I'd like to get down to the Falmouth beaches (there is one specific one, but I can't think of the name right now) and also want to try to get some shots of the lighthouse in the Woods Hole area. I tried a few times years ago, but I never got there at the right time of day. I think that dawn would be the best time for that lighthouse. Just have to get the right day when there are now clouds at that time of day. Kind of hard for me to plan that being 1 1/2 hours away.

But I'm off topic a bit now. Back to our regularly scheduled post. :teeth:

Those are beautiful shots....I can feel the breeze and taste the ocean..and I'd LOVE to take that walk someday IRL with you!!

What nice shots, Linda!! I really like the desolation look in those first few. Looks like a great place to seek out nature with a lens.:thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing.

And hello, Vanessa, and Ann, have not 'seen' you guys in ages.

Hey there...you got outside! :thumbsup2 Nicer subjects than what I have still. I'm heading to parents house on the Cape (Dennis) for Easter weekend. So I can get my beach (bay side) & Sesuit Harbor pics. Dad owns / runs a charter sportsfishing boat from there. My brothers boat is there too. We've been there since 1977. Come summer, I'll be able to add in pics of my dad hauling lobster traps in & my brother scuba diving & my DH on jetski. LOL Never a dull moment on the Cape.

My questions are:
What time of day was that?
Auto or other settings?

Good work! Lots of white caps by the way. brrrrrr

Thanks, glad you enjoyed.

I am on the South Shore, but grew up just north of Boston and lived down the Cape for a while as well. I am close to the water so I get up to the beach a lot. I would really miss it if I moved away.

Shots were taken mid-morning. I wanted to get the morning sun - this time of year it's so pretty on the water. My favorite shot is the one where the rocks are glistening after the waves receded. It looked really pretty and I was glad I was able to capture a bit of it. I wasn't sure how it would come out because it was so bright it was almost blinding, but the camera did a nice job.

I think most of the shots here were taken on auto and program. I tried some different settings but some of the pictures didn't come out too well (today and before). I've noticed if I try to use TV or AV settings, the pictures come out too white. Can anyone explain why? I will post one example. (I have some others from the JFK that were similar, I'll have to post later.)

I believe this one was shutter priority:

I also took some pictures of the dog using the "sports" setting (since she was moving a lot and I wanted to get quick shots) and they were noisy. I understand why, I think. But ideas about that are welcome, too.

One thing about the camera that I found annoying was the lens cap flying around in the wind. It actually ruined a couple of shots when it flew in front of the lens. The other thing I find a little hard to get used to is some of the "internal" settings, e.g. L, M1, M2, W, S, S1, etc (miss my "stars".) It doesn't default to any settings (as best I can tell) and if you hit a button wrong like I unknowingly did during one shoot, the whole lot can come out crappy until you realize the mistake. But these are the things that come with experience in using the camera, and I'm still on the learning curve here. I'll have to take a look through that tutorial. I would like to do some panoramics at some point, too.

They are great photos - I especially like the one of the rocks, and your puppy who does look really cold...and she is cute!!

Great pictures, Linda. It was just as if I was taking the walk with you. What was the temp anyway?

I think it was in the 40's or so, but the wind made it seem colder.

Heather, I like your dog too!! Nothin like em!

You're right there!! I love my Charlotte - and she isn't spoiled one little bit...!!!
I'm looking forward to getting my new camera to take some shots of her she seems to enjoy posing for the camera!!
