Welcome to my PTR for our upcoming January 2010 trip!

While planning I’ll also be sharing lots of pics from our trip this past January 2009! As far as the scrapbooking part of the title…I’m a digital scrapbooking newbie so I’ll be posting pages and pics as I share stories from our last trip and make plans for this next one. And YES I’m well aware that it’s been almost 6 months since the trip and I should be finished by now.:rolleyes1 My goal is to have it done before we leave for the January 2010 trip. Maybe doing this PTR will get my tushy moving!

The January 2010 Plans…

We are heading back to the world Jan 23rd -30th and will be staying at CBR. This will be my 5th visit, DH's 4th visit , DS's 3rd visit, and DD's 2nd visit to Disney!!!

Oh and I guess I should mention this is going to be a complete surprise for our kids. :yay::yay:They won’t find out about it until Christmas morning!
Last time they knew all about it and counted down with me. I loved talking to my son about it while I was planning and sharing my excitement with him. This time it‘s going to be tough to keep my lips sealed and not slip but I think it will be worth it come Christmas :santa:morning! Wish me luck!

Count Down With Me!

Days left until we hop in the car and drive to FL...

Me- Kim
I'm a wife and mom of two beautiful children.
My first visit to Disney was in 1987...I was 9 and apparently perms and big ugly glasses were popular back then- thanks for keeping me stylish Mom:crazy2:. Since that trip I've been 3 more times and counting!

Circa 1987
That's me on the right and my big sister (who will probably disown me once she sees these) on the left.

My sister, My Mom and Me...The funny thing about this picture (besides the terrible hair styles and clothes) is that the Minnie doll I'm holding I still have and my DD plays with it now. :cutie:

Another hideous one- this time with my Dad

Go ahead take a minute and get your giggles out. :lmao:

Feel free to keep reading once you’ve composed yourself…I'll wait. popcorn::

Okay let's find out about the rest of the gang...

DH
His first trip to Disney was our honeymoon. We’ve been married for 8 wonderful years. He’s not as obsessed with Disney as I am but he always has a great time and turns into a big kid when we are there. We‘ll be celebrating his 35th birthday on this next trip!!! He’s such a lucky duck. I have to make this one special since last trip it was also his birthday and things didn’t go as planned but that’s another post for later.

Here’s a few pics from our honeymoon in 2001...we look so young and naïve. I was 22 and DH was 25.

DS
He's 5 and will be starting Kindergarten this fall. I can’t believe it. I feel like it was just yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital. Where does the time go?
He's a huge Star Wars fan even though he's never seen any of the movies. He fell in love with Darth Vader while we were in Disney. We tried 3 times to get that boy in the Star Wars show at Hollywood Studios and they never picked him. The closest he got was posing for a Photopass guy and an imaginary Darth Vader. I'm getting him in that stinking show this trip even if it means I have to slip someone a $20 bill. :headache:

DD
She's 2 and a very spirited little thing. :cutie:She loves Tink, Nemo and Minnie. She also loves her "pincesses." Her favorite these days is Ariel. She plays dress ups and puts her baby in the stroller and tells me "Bye Monny- I go to Dinney Whirl." Jan 2009 was her very first trip!

I love this pic because it really shows her excitement when she met Minnie. This girl was on cloud nine!!!!:cloud9:

Well, that’s enough embarrassing pics for today. You can stop laughing now.

Awww what a great start! You hooked me on the scrapbooking! I'm a scrapbooker and would love to learn the digital stuff. We're without a computer at home right now though so I won't be learning any time soon!

I'm also planning a surprise trip for my entire family. The difference?? We leave in 5 days!!!!! You can check it out here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2153582) if you want to! I'm amazed I've kept it this long! Just a couple more days and it'll be good! I can't wait to spill the beans! :goodvibes

Can't wait to see what you have in store!

Woohoo you are going on my birthday:banana: We are staying at CBR in September and I can't wait!

I can't wait to see your digital layouts. I still like teh traditional way of scrapbooking;)

Hey Kim!! I'm joining the fun! I've been reading TRs and PTRs like crazy lately! I should do one too, but I'm a little on the lazy side! :)

We love CBR!!!
I still like traditional scrapbooking too but I just don't have the room or the time for it anymore. I miss the hands-on feeling of accomplishment you get from it.

Hi Sheree! Thanks for stopping by! Let me know when you start yours and I'll be there. It seems I'm on here 24/7 anyway.:rotfl:

I'm joining in too! I'm a scrapbooker as well (though I don't do digital but I think it looks pretty cool) so I can't wait to see your pages and hear all about your plans!

Okay so now you've met my family and you know who IS going.

Let me introduce you to the people who are NOT going on this trip.

image083.jpg

My sister's family is on the left, my parents are in the back middle and my family is on the right.

You see, the last two trips (Oct. 2004 & Jan.2009) have been Grand Gatherings with my sister's family and my parents. This trip is going to be different for us in many ways since they aren't going. For starters, we drive and usually caravan down with my sister's family. It's going to be a LONG, LONELY drive from MD to FL without goofing off with my sister's family over the walkie-talkies. Plus going with my side of the family is never any trouble. We all agree ahead of time that we are free to go where we want, when we want. We meet up for special meals and such but there's never that pressure that we have to stick together.

Part of me is excited that it's going to just be my hubby and kids but part of me is a wee bit sad. I've gotten so used to traveling to Disney with them. Jason, on the other hand, is looking forward to not having his mother-in-law in the hotel room right next door. :rotfl:

Thanks for popping in to say hello! Digital is growing on me. It's not as authentic but I kind of like being able to fix things if I need to. When I was paper scrapbooking I would cut something wrong and that was it. I like that there's an undo button. ;) It's also much more cost effective for my budget.

Thanks for keeping up Kim! I'll update again next week!

Up next is my beloved resort- CBR!!!pirate:

Happy Monday Morning everyone! (I figure if I sound chipper it will rub off and I'll actually start feeling that way.;) )

I'm working on my resort Layouts (CBR of course!) and will be updating soon... until then here's a couple of pictures of DD with my Minnie doll from when I was little. Believe it or not it still has the blue plastic Mickey head tag on it!

They're probably just trying to protect you from my embarrassing childhood pics! :lmao:

For us it's not really a question of where to stay. We've stayed at Caribbean Beach since our honeymoon in 2001. There's just something wonderful about that resort...I don't know if it's the steel drum music or the lush tropical setting but whatever it is, it draws us back every time!

This trip is going to be as budget friendly as I can make it. My first thought on saving money was to stay at a value rather than a moderate. DH quickly put an end to that thought and told me if I wanted to go it was CBR or bust. Well who am I to argue...CBR it is!

Last January we arrived to check in and found our 3 rooms that were supposed to be near each other were in completely different areas of the resorts. :scared1: They ended up upgrading us to preferred buildings to fix the problem! I was on :cloud9:...staying at my favorite resort and getting a free upgrade...nothing like a little Disney Magic at work! :wizard:

Now I'm just waiting for a great deal so we can switch from room only to a package...will there be a pirate room in our future??? pirate:

Here's a few layouts with pics from our last trip.

We celebrated Jason's birthday while we were there. The kids made him a big poster before we left and some cards.
One morning we had a duck outside of our door and the kids thought it was the funniest thing that he stopped by to say hello.

The newly renovated pools were amazing!!!!! It was a little chilly in the kiddie section but my kids were so excited to play they didn't care. My poor Dad didn't notice the big bucket that dumps water until it was too late.

I love your scrapbook pages. Digital really is pretty neat. What program do you use for that?

I use Polaroid My Memories Photo Suite.( http://www.mymemoriessuite.com/ ) It's very simple to navigate for a beginner. Eventually I'd like to learn how to use Photoshop Elements but the Polaroid program is advanced enough for me right now. :badpc:
